Four new Brazilian species of Ruppeliana are described and illustrated: R. barbarensis sp. nov., R. grossii sp. nov., R. longiphallus sp. nov., and R. serrana sp. nov., the first from Minas Gerais State and the other three from Rio de Janeiro State. The new taxa can be easily distinguished from other Ruppeliana species by their color pattern and male genitalia morphology. Ruppeliana coronulifera (Stål, 1862) and R. taschenbergi (Berg, 1899) are synonymized with R. signiceps (Stål, 1862). Additionally, a diagnosis of the genus and a key to species are provided.

A new species of the recently erected genus Tortopsis is described from males and females imagos collected in Macaé river, Rio de Janeiro State. Tortopsis canum sp. nov. can be recognized by the color pattern of the head and pronotum, strongly shaded with black in both sexes, male genitalia with parastyli long and straight and female parastyli receptor “C” shaped, with receptors large, occupying nearly all extension of sternum VIII. This new species represents the first record of the genus Tortopsis in Brazil.

Soaresia forficula sp. nov. is described from the Mantiqueira Mountain Range, Minas Gerais State, southeastern Brazil. The genus Soaresia H. Soares, 1945 previously included only Soaresia uncina H. Soares, 1945, hitherto recorded only from the type locality, Penedo, Rio de Janeiro State, in the same mountain range. A second record of S. uncina is given from a nearby locality, Serrinha do Alambari. The combined distribution of the species of Soaresia is restricted to elevations between 700 and 1300 m, in the Tropical & Subtropical Moist Broadleaf Forests biome. An emended diagnosis of the genus is given and complements are given to the description of S. uncina, including the first illustrations and description of the male genitalia.

New data on the jumping-spider genus Arnoliseus are presented. Three new species from the Atlantic Forest in Rio de Janeiro state are described, based on both sexes: Arnoliseus cariocasp. nov. from the city of Rio de Janeiro, and Arnoliseus hastatussp. nov. and Arnoliseus falcatussp. nov. from the municipality of Cachoeiras de Macacu. The genus’ genital morphology is discussed in detail and new English terminology for their structures is created. An identification key for all Arnoliseus species is given.

We describe a new bromeligenous species of Scinax from the perpusillus group from the Atlantic Forest of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The new species is described from three different localities, two on the continent (Municipality of Mangaratiba), and the other on an island, Gipóia (Municipality of Angra dos Reis). The new species may be easily diagnosed from all other known species in the group by the color pattern of the tadpole, by the prominent medial process between the nostrils in adults. While in all the other species the tadpole has a uniform dark brown coloration, in the new species tadpoles is similarly dark brown, but also has a yellow stripe on the head between the nostrils and the eyes.

The new sharpshooter species Sonesimia nessimiani is described from Bolivia based on specimens collected on sugar cane. An identification key to males and females of all known species of the genus is given. In addition to the external morphology, color pattern, and male genitalia, female genital structures are also described and illustrated. Notes comparing the new species with the remaining six Sonesimia species are provided.

Eremanthus praetermissus and E. ovatifolius, two new species from Brazil, are here described and illustrated. Eremanthus praetermissus is endemic to Serra do Mar, in the northeastern part of São Paulo state and the southern part of Rio de Janeiro state; it is characterized by hemispherical, brown syncephalia, heads connate for 1/3 to 2/5 of their length, with 3–4 florets per head and brown phyllaries with purple apices. Eremanthus ovatifolius is endemic to campos rupestres of Pico da Aliança, in the eastern part of Minas Gerais state, and is characterized by ovate leaves, hemispherical syncephalia, heads connate for 1/4 to 1/2 of their length and 3–4 florets per head. The affinities of these species are discussed. A key to all species of Eremanthus is provided.

Culex siphanulatus, sp. n. is described from specimens collected in bromeliads of the coast of Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The description includes illustrations of female, male genitalia and chaetotaxy of pupa and larva. This species is easily distinguished from the others of subgenus Microculex and does not belong to any of the four series proposed for the grouping of its species.

A species of the genus Amorphinopsis is described for the first time for the Atlantic Ocean. The new species was described based on the study of 25 specimens, collected in the area of the São Sebastião Channel and its environs (northern sector of São Paulo State coastline) and in the Cabo Frio region (Rio de Janeiro State). The form is massive cushion-shaped, lobate, occasionally encrusting. The megascleres are styles [160–260 (N=20)/5–10 (N=10) μm; length/thickness] and oxeas [150–900 (N=100)/5–18 (N=20) μm]. Amorphinopsis atlantica sp. nov. differs from the other species of Amorphinopsis by its colour, dark-greyish-green with or without yellow tinges on the exposed surface, and the smaller size of its oxeas. Amorphinopsis excavans is the closest species to the Brazilian material, but can still be set apart by a series of smaller traits, such as oxeas and styles never overlapping (the smaller oxea is always larger than the larger style).

The Oriental genus Physodera Eschscholtz, 1829 is revised. A key to species is provided, along with distribution maps, and illustrations of habitus and male genitalia of all available species. Two new species are described: Physodera sciakyi sp. n. (type locality: S. Sulawesi, Indonesia), and Physodera unicolor sp. n. (type locality: Zhejiang, China). Three new synonyms are proposed: Physodera parvicollis Van de Poll, 1889 = Physodera eschscholtzii Parry, 1849, Allocota sumatrensis Kirschenhofer, 1996 = Physodera eschscholtzii Parry, 1849, and Physodera noctiluca Mohnike, 1875= Physodera dejeani Eschscholtz, 1829.

Six new species of Agalliopsis Kirkaldy, 1907 are described from the Atlantic Forest of Southeastern Brazil (Minas Gerais State): A. variegata sp. nov., A. dutrai sp. nov., A. chaelata sp. nov., A. pentaspinata sp. nov., A. mutabilis sp. nov., and A. felixi sp. nov. Illustrations of external features and male and female genitalic characters that distinguish the new taxa are given. Variation in the color pattern and male genitalic characters of A. mutabilis is recorded. The new taxa are assigned to species complexes within Agalliopsis.
