Description of Harpactea popovi sp. n. from Bulgaria with further taxonomic notes on related species (Araneae, Dysderidae)

Harpactea popovi sp. n. is described and illustrated based on males. It was collected in beech forest habitats (Fagus orientalis) in Strandzha Mountain, Southeastern Bulgaria. The new species belongs to the Harpactea rubicunda species group as defined by Deeleman-Reinhold (1993) and is closely related to H. ice Komnenov & Chatzaki, 2016 and H. sturanyi (Nosek, 1905). The following synonymies were established: H. camenarum Brignoli, 1977 = H. sturanyi (Nosek, 1905) syn. n., H. lyciae Brignoli, 1978 = H. sturanyi (Nosek, 1905) syn. n. New illustrations and photographs for the discussed species are also presented.

Simulium (Gomphostilbia) marosense sp. nov. is described based on adults, pupae and mature larvae from Sulawesi, Indonesia. This new species is placed in the Simulium duolongum subgroup of the S. batoense species-group, representing the ninth member for the subgroup in Sulawesi. This new species is characterized by a narrow female frons and pupal gill with eight filaments, of which two filaments of the ventral pair are 1.9–3.0 times as long as the six other filaments. Taxonomic notes are provided to distinguish this new species from related species.

Simulium (Gomphostilbia) kumbakkaraiense sp. n. is described based on adults, pupae and mature larvae from Kumbakkarai stream, in the Palani Hills of Western Ghats, South India. This new species is placed in the Simulium batoense species-group of the subgenus Gomphostilbia Enderlein. This new species is characterized by a scutum with three brownish-black longitudinal vittae and hind basitarsus in the female 5.3 times as long as wide, and in male the large facets of the upper eye in 13 vertical columns and 14 horizontal rows, the respiratory gill with short common basal in the pupa and postgenal cleft arrow-head-shaped in the larva. Dugesia gonocephala is a species group, comprising numerous closely related species, which differ from each other in morphological and karyological aspects. In this paper known and presently described species, of the group from the eastern Mediterranean region, are reviewed. Hitherto the triclads of this region have been poorly known in comparison with their western counterparts. Yet there is a wealth of species in the area. Six well-delimited new species of the Dugesia gonocephala group are described and one further species is rescued from synonymy. The wealth of material available has also made possible an assessment of the taxonomic validity of many characters usually considered to be of importance within this difficult group.

The new species Oxycheila alenatiki sp. nov. (Cicindelidae: Megacephalini) is described from central Bolivia and compared to related species. Colour photographs of habitus and male genitalia of O. alenatiki sp.nov. and related species O. gracillima Bates, 1872 and O. oberthueri Horn, 1897 are compared. A modified taxonomic key to the gracillima species group is provided.

A new species, Stenomorpha roosevelti Smith, Miller, and Wheeler, n. sp., is described from the Cuatrociénegas Protected Area in Coahuila, Mexico. Three related species are transferred into Stenomorpha, producing the following new combi- nations: Stenomorpha furcata (Champion), Stenomorpha wickhami (Horn), and Stenomorpha granicollis (Blaisdell). A new informal group, the furcata species group, comprised of these four species is recognized within Stenomorpha. Diagnoses of the group and its species are provided, along with distribution data and a key to the species.

<em>Anthaxia</em> (<em>Haplanthaxia</em>) <em>flaviae</em> n. sp. from the Aeolian Islands (Italy, Sicily) belonging to the <em>A</em>. (<em>H</em>.) <em>olympica</em> Kiesenwetter, 1880 species-group is described, illustrated and compared with <em>A</em>. (<em>H</em>.) <em>scutellaris</em> (Gené, 1839), the most closely related species. From this latter, the new species differs mainly for size and body shape, colour pattern of elytrae, shape of antennomera, margin of anterior tibiae and shape of aedeagus. Some zoogeographical considerations concerning the insular distribution of this endemic taxon are briefly discussed.

This new species is placed in the Simulium batoense species-group of the subgenus Gomphostilbia Enderlein, representing the most eastern distribution record for the group. This new species is characterized by a narrow female frons and pupal gill with eight filaments, of which two filaments of the ventral pair are three to four times as long as the six other filaments. Taxonomic notes are provided to distinguish this new species from related species.

The species of the Eumerus tricolor species group in Iran are reviewed. Six species new to science are described from Iran, i.e., Eumerus atricolorus Gilasian &#38; van Steenis sp. nov., E. brevipilosus Gilasian &#38; van Steenis sp. nov., E. chekabicus Gilasian &#38; van Steenis sp. nov., E. ovoformus Gilasian &#38; van Steenis sp. nov., E. pilosipedes Gilasian &#38; van Steenis sp. nov. and E. vallicolus Gilasian &#38; van Steenis sp. nov. Three species, E. hissaricus Stackelberg, 1949, E. longitarsis Peck, 1979 and E. richteri Stackelberg, 1960, are newly recorded from Iran. Photographs of the species as well as illustrations of the male genitalia of the new species and closely related species are provided. An identification key to the males of the Iranian Eumerus tricolor species group is presented. A row of long posterodorsal setae on the wing vein costa basally is presented and argued as a new diagnostic morphological character for the entire Eumerus tricolor species group.

In this paper we describe and illustrate Zercon hamaricus sp. nov. based on all postembryonic stages obtained from soil samples and laboratory cultures. The new species belongs to a species group in which dorsal setae J1–J4 in females are short and similar in length, and J5 are considerably longer. In most species of this group opisthonotal setae J5 and Z4 are clearly displaced anteriorly. Zercon hamaricus sp. nov. is most similar to Z. forsslundi Sellnick, 1958 and to a less extent to Z. polonicus Błaszak, 1970. The females of Z. forsslundi, Z. polonicus and Z. hamaricus sp. nov. can be distinguished based on the range of J5, the length and character of the Z and S-series setae, the distance between setae Z5 and the location of gdZ3. We also include comparative information on other related species of Zercon. The new species is one of the six known species that have clearly visible sexual dimorphism in opisthonotal chaetotaxy.
