Two new species of Ornebius are described from Siargao Island, Mindanao of the Philippines: O. alvarezi sp. nov. and O. bioculatus sp. nov. These sympatric scaly crickets have diverging genitalia morphology, with O. alvarezi sp. nov. resembling congeners from Borneo whereas O. bioculatus sp. nov. resembling congeners from Sulawesi. With the new findings, the number of Ornebius species known from the Philippines increases to four.

Two new species of the genus Odochilus Harold, 1877 (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Aphodiinae: Odochilini) from the Oriental Region are described as follows: O. shavrini Rakovič & Anichtchenko, new species from the Philippines (Mindanao) and O. borneensis Rakovič & Anichtchenko, new species from Malaysia (Sarawak). Photographs of their habitus are presented. Differential diagnoses are mentioned.

Two new species, Itaphlebia exquisita sp. nov and Itaphlebia laeta sp. nov., were collected from the Jiulongshan Formation (Middle Jurassic) of Daohugou, Inner Mongolia, China. A key to the species of the genus Itaphlebia is provided and diagnosis of the genus is revised. Itaphlebia exquisita sp. nov differs from other species in having an extra medial vein branch. Itaphlebia laeta sp. nov shows a transitional character to the extant genera by having a simple Sc. These new findings expand the distribution of Itaphlebia from middle-southern Russia to northeastern China.

Recent botanical explorations in the province of Palawan, Philippines, have resulted in the discovery of two new ginger species, namely Boesenbergia eburnea Docot and Boesenbergia leonardocoi Funak. & Docot, which are described and illustrated here, including information on their distribution, habitat, phenology, ecology and conservation status. Additionally, a key to Boesenbergia species in the Philippines is provided.

Three new species of copepod crustaceans are described from material collected from anchialine and brackish habitats inand around the village of Walengkabola on the coast of Muna Island, to the southeast of Sulawesi. A new species of cy-clopoid, Paracyclopina sacklerae n. sp., was described from material collected from the tidal inflow entering into the bot-tom of sinkholes a few metres inland from the shoreline. Detailed comparisons are made with Paracyclopina orientalis(Lindberg, 1941), n. comb., a closely related congener here transferred from its original genus Cyclopetta Sars, 1913. Theassignment of Paracyclopina Smirnov, 1935 to the family Cyclopettidae is followed here despite uncertainty over the va-lidity of some of the families created by the break up of the former Cyclopinidae. Two new species of Boholina Fosshagen& Iliffe, 1989 are described, based on material from the same sinkholes and from caves located up to 700m inland fromthe coast and exhibiting further reduced salinity down to 1.8 ppt. One species, B. parapurgata n. sp., is very closely relatedto B. purgata Fosshagen & Iliffe, 1989 from Bohol island in the Philippines, the other B. munaensis n. sp., is very closelyrelated to B. crassicephala Fosshagen & Iliffe, 1989 also from Bohol island, but a number of fine scale differences in the leg 5 of both sexes are recognised in each case. Keys to valid species of both genera are provided.

Two new species of the tribe Trechini Bonelli, 1810 are described from the Hengduan Mountains in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces, China: Agonotrechus spinangulus sp. n. (from the Kangwu Pass, Liziping Town, Muli County, southern Sichuan) and Sinotrechiama yunnanus sp. n. (from the Xiaobaicaoling Pass, Santai Town, Dayao County, Yunnan). A new collecting site (Yizi Pass between Meigu County and Ebian County, Sichuan) is provided with some data on morphological variation for one more species, Protrechiama crassipes (Uéno, 1997), known so far only from the two female specimens of the type series. These new findings significantly expand our knowledge of the above three genera. Sinotrechiama yunnanus sp. n. is the first member of the genus found outside of Sichuan Province.
