Oxynoemacheilus isauricus, new species, from the Lakes Beyşehir and Suğla basins in Central Anatolia is distinguished from all other species of the O. angorae group by having a very slender caudal peduncle (its depth 2.2–2.6 times in its length). The new species is further distinguished by having a short head (head length 21–24% SL), and a midlateral series of irregularly shaped blotches on the flank. Oxynoemacheilus isauricus is also distinguished by a minimum K2P sequence divergence of 7.5% and 8.0% in the mtDNA-COI barcode region from O. eregliensis and O. atili, its closest relatives.

Lobocheilos aurolineatus, new species, is described from the Mahakam River basin in East Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. It is distinguished from all other species of Lobocheilos except for L. ixocheilos and L. tenura in having one pair of barbels (maxillary) and by the presence of a broad, black midlateral stripe, approximately ¾ scale height in thickness, extending from the operculum to the caudal-peduncle base. Lobocheilos aurolineatus differs from both species in possessing a thin cream to yellow stripe on the anterior ⅔ of the flank, separating the black midlateral stripe from the brown dorso-lateral scales, and by a smaller mouth width (23.5–29.9% head length in L. aurolineatus vs. 32.1–45.0% and 34.4–46.4% head length in L. ixocheilos and L. tenura, respectively).

Hyphessobrycon rutiliflavidus, new species, is described from the upper rio Paraguai in Cuiab<, State of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The new species differs from all other congeners by the following combination of characters: black humeral spot, slightly diffuse at its tips, and caudal-peduncle blotch present; midlateral body stripe conspicuous in its posteriormost portion, extending to the tips of the middle caudal rays; anal fin with iii,15 to iv,19 rays (mode iv,17); upper jaw length, 42.3 to 49.5% of the head length; maxilla with 2–5 teeth (mode 3); all the fins of males reddish-orange and of females yellowish.

Labeo meroensis, new species, is described from the River Nile between the 6th and 5th cataract at Shendi and Atbara, Republic of Sudan. It is a small species, up to 52.5 mm standard length, resembling some species of the Labeo parvus- group. It is distinguished from all other African Labeo species by the combination of the following characters: cylindriform body, transverse plicae on the inner surface of the lips, 5.5 scale rows between lateral line and mid dorsal line, 39 to 41 scales in lateral line, 16 scales around the caudal peduncle and eye-diameter more than 21% of head-length.

Oxynoemacheilus nasreddini, new species, from Lake Akşehir, Eber, Eğirdir, and Ilgın basins in Central Anatolia is distinguished from other species of Oxynoemacheilus in Central Anatolia by having irregularly shaped blotches on flank; 2–4 dark-brown bands on caudal fin; a slender body, and an emarginate caudal fin in which the shortest middle caudal-fin ray is 76–91% of the longest ray of the upper caudal-fin lobe. Molecular data suggest that the new species is closely related to O. mediterraneus from the Aksu and Köprüçay drainages. Although the two species are separated by only a minimum K2P distance of 1.2% in the mtDNA COI barcode region, they are well distinguished morphologically. The situation is complicated by loaches from Lake Eğirdir basin that are identified as O. nasreddini by their morphological character states but are only distinguished from O. mediterraneus by a minimum K2P distance of 0.2% in the mtDNA COI barcode region.

In this study, we describe a new species of Neoplecostomus from córrego Tamborete, municipality of Capitólio, Minas Gerais state, upper rio Paraná basin. The new species is distinguished from its congeners by the presence of conspicuous dark spots all over the body. Moreover, the new species can be diagnosed by the absence of moderate keels along each lateral series of plates, presence of developed adipose fin, absence of enlarged, fleshy folds between dentaries, dorsal-fin spinelet larger than dorsal-fin spine, lacking enlarged odontodes along lateral margins of snout and along ridges before eyes, having reduced number of dentary teeth, having two irregular and conspicuous rows of large and transversally-flattened papillae, just posterior to dentary teeth, smaller mandibullary width/head length, smaller Interorbital width/mandibullary width, smaller number of lateral-line plates, higher and lower number of dentary teeth depending of the species compared, absence of a conspicuous sexual dimorphism, absence of a conspicuous horseshoe-shaped light blotch posterior to the supraoccipital, with a central dark area which rarely contacts the edge of the light area, smaller mandibulary width/head length, smaller Interorbital width/Mandibullary width and a greater Caudal peduncle length/Caudal peduncle depth. Furthermore, we used DNA barcoding techniques of 2% threshold criteria and GMYC model to distinguish the new species from its congeners. These molecular techniques were unable to distinguish the new species from N. langeanii and N. selenae from N. botucatu, that were differentiated using external morphology.

Oxynoemacheilus phasicus, new species, is described from the Rioni and Enguri River drainages in Georgia. It is distinguished from other Oxynoemacheilus species in the O. brandtii group by a mottled or marbled flank pattern in adults, a slightly emarginate caudal fin, and a deep caudal peduncle. Molecular data suggest that the new species is characterized by a minimum K2P distance of 7.5% from O. brandtii from the Kura drainage in the mtDNA COI barcode region. Oxynoemacheilus brandtii and O. elsae are re-diagnosed. A very slender Oxynoemacheilus from the Aras drainage clusters as sister to O. elsae in our molecular analysis and not with O. brandtii from the Kura River. However, it is identified as O. brandtii as it is indistinguishable from this species in morphological characters.

The nemacheilid genus Seminemacheilus is revised. Six species are recognised, three of them described herein as new. All species are endemic to Central Anatolia. Seminemacheilus lendlii from the Sakarya River drainage and the endorheic Lake Aksehir and Eber basins, S. ispartensis from Lake Eğirdir basin and S. ahmeti from Sultan Sazlığı are valid species. Although Seminemacheilus lendlii and S. ispartensis have almost identical COI sequences, they are distinguished by the shape of the caudal peduncle and the presence of scales on the caudal peduncle in S. ispartensis (vs. absent in S. lendlii). Seminemacheilus attalicus, new species, from Kırkgöz drainage, is distinguished by having a slightly emarginated caudal fin, a central pore in the supratemporal canal and a marbled flank pattern. Seminemacheilus ekmekciae, new species, from Lake Tuz basin is distinguished by having a roundish caudal fin, a short post-dorsal length and large brown blotches fused into stripes on the flank. Seminemacheilus tubae, new species, from Lake Beyşehir basin, is distinguished by having a truncate caudal fin and 2–5 (6) supraorbital head pores. Seminemacheilus dursunavsari from the Göksu River drainage is not a valid name and this population is identified as S. tubae.

We here describe Sitana attenboroughii sp. nov., a new species of fan-throated lizard of the genus Sitana Cuvier, 1829 from coastal Kerala in southern India. The new species morphologically is closer to Sitana visiri Deepak, 2016 (in Deepak et al. 2016a), however, differs in having higher numbers of ventral scales and a comparatively short but richly colored dewlap. Genetically the new species shows affinity to Sitana marudhamneydhal Deepak, Khandekar, Varma & Chaitanya, 2016 from which it differs in an uncorrected pairwise sequence divergence of 2.2% for a fragment of mitochondrial Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide dehydrogenase (NADH) subunit 2 gene.

Ferulago akpulatii (Apiaceae) is described as a new species endemic to Central Anatolia, Turkey. It is closely related to Ferulago platycarpa and F. pauciradiata, and is easily distinguished by its cauline leaf shape, inflorescence type, and fruit features. The main morphological differences between Ferulago akpulatii and related taxa are discussed, and the diagnostic characteristics, including the anatomical features of fruits, are given in detail. An identification key of Ferulago akpulatii and the morphologically closer species is also provided.

In the study, four new species of Astenus (Eurysunius) Dejean (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Paederinae) are described and illustrated from central Anatolia, in Turkey, and distinguished from related consubgeners: Astenus veyseli Anlaş, sp. n. (Sivas province), A. gultekini Anlaş, sp. n. (Kırıkkale province), A. kirani Anlaş, sp. n. (Sivas province) and A. neseti Anlaş, sp. n. (Kırşehir province). A key to Turkish species of Eurysunius is provided. The distributions of 22 species in Turkey are mapped.
