Schoenus is a predominately austral genus of sedges in which the Southern African taxa have recently received detailed taxonomic attention, starting with a transfer of 24 species into Schoenus from Tetraria and Epischoenus in 2017. The taxonomy of the Southern African Schoenus species is currently being revised, which has brought insight into the existence of several species new to science. Here, we build on this recent taxonomic work by describing one new species that has been previously overlooked (Schoenus inconspicuus), while including a distribution map, an assessment of conservation status and an updated identification key.

During a soil zoological expedition to São Tomé and Príncipe in 2010 by the California Academy of Sciences, millipedes of the genus Globanus were collected. Samples of G. marginescaber (Karsch, 1884) and G. integer (Karsch, 1884) were recovered in addition to those containing a new species. Globanus drewesisp. nov. is described and additional records, illustrations, and descriptive notes are given for the other two species. A key to all three species of the genus is provided, and a distribution map is presented. The monotypic genus Lobogonus Demange, 1971, which includes L. trilobatus Demange, 1971, from Sierra Leone, mainland western Africa, is revalidated and removed from synonymy under Globanus. Lobogonus is illustrated from a type specimen.

Duolandrevus species are brown, smooth and shiny, and armed with short tegmina. There are twelve species recorded from China. We redescribed five species of them and reported a new species, Duolandrevus longlouensis sp. n., discovered in Hainan Island, China. The new one belongs to the subgenus Eulandreus and is similar to Duolandrevus obsidianus He, 2019 and Duolandrevus dendrophilus (Gorochov, 1988), but differs from them in body size and details of tegmina and genitalia. Besides description and illustration of the five recorded species and one new species, keys and distribution map of Chinese bark crickets were provided.

A new species of Cousinia (sect. Cynaroideae Bunge) is described and illustrated. Cousinia sharifii was found in mountain steppes near the border between Iran (W Azarbaijan) and Turkey. It is related to the complex of C. canescens s.l., in which it can be distinguished by the shape of involucre and phyllaries, and by the number of flowers and phyllaries. A distribution map, a line drawing and a scanned image of the type specimen of the new species are provided.

Based on morphological characters, a new species Potentilla friesenii collected from alpine belt of Kuraisky Ridge (Altai Mts.) is described. The novelty belongs to Potentilla sect. Chrysanthae; it is most closely related to P. asiatica but differs from the latter by styles not or somewhat widened and smooth to slightly verrucose (vs. always somewhat widened and strongly verrucose) at base as well as the presence of numerous violet glands on sepals. Stability of these differences are confirmed by several years of observation in the wild and in introduction. Illustration of the new species, image of its type specimen, and distribution map are adduced; the area of P. asiatica within Altai Mts. is also presented. A novel morphological feature separating P. asiatica and P. chrysantha is found: staminal ring in P. asiatica (as well as in the new species) is dark violet while it is pale in P. chrysantha. The name P. asiatica is lectotypified.

The genus Metaterpna is revised. The two species known, M. differens (Warren, 1909) and M. thyatiraria (Oberthür, 1913), are redescribed, with emphasis on the considerable variability of M. thyatiraria, and the status of the related type specimen was discussed. In addition, one new species, M. batangensis sp. nov., is described from Batang and Daocheng, Sichuan province, and Lijiang, Yunnan province, southwestern China. M. thyatiraria and M. batangensis show clear distance by DNA barcode sequences. Illustrations of moths and genitalia are presented.

The water scavenger beetle genus Coelostoma Brullé, 1835 of Taiwan is reviewed based on freshly collected material and museum specimens. Seven species are recognized, of which one new species, Coelostoma (Lachnocoelostoma) taiwanense sp. nov., is described. Distributional data of C. fallaciosum Orchymont, 1936 and C. stultum (Walker, 1858) are summarized. Coelostoma phallicum Orchymont, 1940, C. wui Orchymont, 1940, C. vitalisi Orchymont, 1923 and C. bhutanicum Jayaswal, 1972 are reported for the first time from Taiwan. Coelostoma vagum Orchymont, 1940 is excluded from Taiwanese fauna pending the rediscovery of vouchers or newly collected specimens. A distribution map and key to Taiwanese species of the genus are provided.

Abstract—Justicia rubrobracteata, a new species from northeastern Brazil, is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically similar to J. aequilabris due to its shrubby habit, and terminal and axillary spicate inflorescences with red flowers. However, J. rubrobracteata is differentiated mainly by the shape and color of its bracts and bracteoles as well as an orangish macula in the corolla, and a torulose capsule. In addition, J. rubrobracteata is only known from northeastern Brazil, from the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte, while J. aequilabris is widely distributed in Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. A table with the main morphological characters of both species is included, as well as photographs, a key to species of Justicia for the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte in northeastern Brazil, a distribution map of both species, and conservation data for the new species.
