AbstractBackground:Adult laryngeal rhabdomyosarcomas are rare tumours commonly treated by laryngectomy.Case report:We present a case of subglottic laryngeal rhabdomyosarcoma in an elderly woman, treated by endoscopic resection. Conclusion:Despite the fact that this tumour is traditionally treated aggressively, this approach is not supported by the literature. Due to the varying biological behaviour of this tumour in adults, we believe that conservative surgical procedures or combination therapies should be preferred, rather than total laryngectomy.

Carcinosarcoma of the urinary bladder is a rare neoplasm that is composed of malignant epithelial and mesenchymal components. In these tumors, histogenesis and biological behaviour remain controversial. Approximately 70 cases have been reported in the literature, usually as case reports or a small series. A series of 221 cases using the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Program database has been reported recently. Optimal treatment is uncertain. Herein, we report a case of sarcomatoid carcinoma of urinary bladder of a farmer aged 84 years old with a year history of hematuria and dysuria. A transurethral resection of the tumor (TUR-T) revealed a carcinosarcoma. The patient underwent radical cystectomy, and there is no tumor recurrence for 15 months after treatments.

AbstractThe human animal type melanoma (ATM) is a rare subtype of melanoma characterised by the proliferation of pigmented dermal epithelioid and spindled melanocytes. However, this variant of melanoma is still lacking a precise nosography definition and classification for the difficulty to be distinguished from other more common melanocytic lesions, as well as for its peculiar biological behaviour. On the other hand, the contribution of scientific literature to this issue is fragmented and limited to the description of very few cases. Starting from the presentation of a case with abnormally aggressive clinical features, here we revisit the current knowledge on ATM from its dermatologic patterns, epidemiology, demography and histopathology to the clinical management. Peculiar accuracy has also been reserved to several histopathologic criteria, which are critical for the differential diagnosis from other melanocytic diseases in junction with molecular data deriving from recent cytogenetic and mutational characterisation of this tumour.

Abstract Aberrant prostatic tissue occurs commonly in the adult male urethra and bladder. Ectopic prostatic tissue occurring outside the urinary system is rare. One case with scattered prostate-type glands in epididymis has been reported in the literature. We report a related case, in which the presence of prostate gland–like epithelium was recognized in epididymal glands in routine histology and was confirmed by subsequent immunohistochemical analysis using prostate-specific antigen. We then examined 23 additional orchiectomy specimens for the presence of prostate-like epithelium. The possibility of this being true ectopia versus an unusual metaplastic change is discussed.

ABSTRACT Myoepitheliomas are rare benign neoplasms of salivary glands representing less than 1% of all salivary gland tumors. This tumor is usually located in the parotid gland and less frequently in the submandibular gland and minor salivary glands that are distributed throughout the oral cavity. Diagnosis of tumor is based on evaluation of histological feature, although immunohistochemical analysis confirms the myoepithelial origin of tumor cells and the final diagnosis. Herein, a case of plasmacytoid myoepithelioma of soft palate in an adult male is presented along with review of the literature. How to cite this article Yogee AN, Choudhary R, Mathur N, Bhuie HS.
