AbstractSymptomatic presentation of ductal arteriosus aneurysm is usually a consequence of associated complications, including thromboembolism, infection, and compression of adjacent structures. In this case report, we present a thrombosed ductal aneurysm that developed antenatally with further postnatal progression of the thrombus and complete occlusion of the left pulmonary artery. Urgent surgical thrombectomy was successful and the post-operative course was uneventful.

: Hereby, the case of an 8-month-old girl diagnosed with partial anomalous left pulmonary artery (PLPA) is presented. Echocardiography and computed tomography (CT) examination demonstrated that the anomalous artery originated from the right pulmonary artery supplying the left upper lobe. PLPA is sometimes associated with tracheobronchial anomaly and congenital cardiovascular defects. A relationship between PLPA and Kabuki syndrome has also been suggested. Echocardiography and CT angiography can be used as accurate tools for identifying an anomalous left pulmonary artery and adjacent abnormal anatomic structures.

A 10-day-old boy was transferred to our hospital due to tachypnea. Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), 4.8 mm in diameter, with small ASD was diagnosed on echocardiography. Surgical ligation of the ductus was performed after failure of three cycles of ibuprofen. However, the ductus remained open on routine postoperative echocardiography on the second postoperative day, and chest CT revealed inadvertent ligation of the left pulmonary artery (LPA) rather than the PDA. Emergent operation successfully reopened the clipped LPA and ligated the ductus on the same (second postoperative) day.<br />Mechanical ventilator support was weaned on postoperative day 21, and the baby was discharged on postoperative day 47 with a normal left lung shadow.
