AbstractConsidering technology limitation or device restriction in practical application, we formulate new nonlinear systems with bounded gain error, which contain switched control and impulsive control. We then investigate the exponential stability of the considered systems. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed criteria is confirmed via an example based on Chua’s oscillator.

In this paper, impulsive control of nonlinear systems and its application to Chen's chaotic system are considered. A new impulsive control method for chaos suppression, using Chen's system as an example, is developed. Some new general criteria for exponential stability and asymptotical stability of nonlinear impulsive systems are established and, particularly, some simple conditions sufficient for driving the chaotic state of Chen's system to its zero equilibrium are presented.

Considering the limitation of machine and technology, we study the stability for nonlinear impulsive control system with some uncertainty factors, such as the bounded gain error and the parameter uncertainty. A new sufficient condition for this system is established based on the generalized Cauchy–Schwarz inequality in this paper. Compared with some existing results, the proposed method is more practically applicable. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by a numerical example.
