Planetary gear trains (PGTs) are widely used in various machines owing to their many advantages. However, they suffer from problems of noise and vibration due to the structural complexity and giving rise to substantial noise, vibration, and harshness with respect to both structures and human users. In this report, the sound level from PGTs is measured in an anechoic chamber based on human aural characteristic, and basic features of sound are investigated. Gear noise is generated by the vibration force due to varying gear tooth stiffness and the vibration force due to tooth surface error, or transmission error (TE). Dynamic TE is considered to be increased because of internal and external meshing. The vibration force due to tooth surface error can be ignored owing to almost perfect tooth surface. A vibration force due to varying tooth stiffness could be a major factor.

For improving precision of 3D surface measurement equipments, which are playing important role in reverse engineering, the Adaptive Network based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is developed to reconstruct 3D surface error, and the measurement error of point cloud is compensated by the presented 3D error ANFIS model. The precision of 3D surface measurement equipments has been improved noticeably

In this paper, an integrated acceleration/deceleration with dynamics interpolation scheme is proposed to confine the maximum contour error at the junction of linear junction. The dynamic contour error equation is derived analytically and then it is utilized for the interpolation design. Based on the derived formulations which could predict the command and dynamic errors, the advanced interpolation design could adjust the connecting velocity of the two blocks to confine the overall contour errors under the given tolerance. Simulation results validate the proposed algorithm can achieve higher accurate trajectory as compared to the other interpolation algorithm proposed in the past.
