Abstract. This research is related to metalworking processing of bodies of revolution with the help of universal lathe machines. The technology includes the application of two types of vibrations to the working tool and the processed surface error measurement. To increase the manufacturing accuracy, the workpiece processed surface error is measured while a workpiece is being rotated; this rotation is performed with the workpiece being rigidly fixed in end supports and at the same time being damped in the sections between these supports. Furthermore, the parameters of vibrations applied to the tool working travel are defined by the workpiece form error and the nature of distribution of stresses that appear when the workpiece is fixed; the nature of the workpiece processed surface form error is extrapolated from the data obtained in the workpiece sections between the supports. Before manufacturing, the workpiece is corrected while being fixed in rigid supports, and the correction itself is performed as the function of magnitude and vector of the workpiece maximum deflection plane. The workpiece may be fixed in rigid supports; steady rests with double rollers may be used as such supports. The workpiece dampening in its sections between end supports may be performed using self-centering steady rests.

Palm oil is one of the leading export commodities of Indonesia. Knowing demand in advance can help policy-makers better prepare for the situation. India is one of the major importers of Indonesian palm oil. The study forecasted the Indonesian palm oil's exports to India from till 2025 using the grey forecasting model EGM (1,1, α, θ). The comparative analyses with Linear regression and exponential regression showed that the grey forecasting technique is relatively more accurate to forecast palm oil exports despite huge uncertainty in the data trend. The secondary data on Indonesian palm oil exports to India from 2011-2018 was obtained from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Mean absolute percentage error was used for error measurement. Despite uncertainty in data, the results show an increasing trend in palm oil exports.

Abstract The laser tracer multi-station measurement method has outstanding performance in computerized numerical control (CNC) rotary table geometric error measurement and separation. However, external factors, such as layout, selected distance between the target mirror and measurement coordinate system, uncertainty of the length measurement, selection of measuring radii for the rotary table, and installation deviation from the target mirror center to the rotary table surface, have negative effects on the results. In this research, the position dilution of precision in the global positioning system measurement process is introduced to evaluate the influence of the laser tracers’ positions on measurement errors. The optimal measurement layout of the laser tracer is used to select the distance between the target mirror and XY plane of the laser tracer measurement coordinate system for the simulation. Then, the influence of the length measurement uncertainty on the laser tracer self-calibration and point measurement results used for calibration is examined based on the Monte Carlo simulation method. Different measurement radii in the rotary table are selected, and four-station laser tracers are used to perform the virtual measurement and evaluate the maximum uncertainty in the X, Y, and Z directions to further determine the best measurement radii of the CNC rotary table. Finally, the effects of the deviation of the target mirror installation center on the geometric error items of the CNC rotary table are quantitatively examined through a simulation. The analysis of the influencing factors in the geometric error measurement and separation process of the CNC rotary table can help further understand how the final results are formed, so as to control the influencing factors during the measurement process and finally optimize them in practice.

Abstract This paper presents the kinematic calibration of a 4-DOF high-speed parallel robot. In order to improve the calibration effect by decreasing the influence of the unobservable disturbance variables introduced by error measurement, a measurement configuration optimization method is proposed. Configurations are iteratively selected inside the workspace by a searching algorithm, then the selection results are evaluated through an index associated with the condition number of the identification Jacobian matrix, finally the number of optimized configurations are determined. Since the searching algorithm has been shown to be sensitive to local minima, a meta-heuristic method has been applied to decrease this sensibility. To verify the effectiveness of the algorithm and kinematic calibration, computation validations, pose error estimations and experiments are performed. The results show that the identification accuracy and calibration effect can be significantly improved by using the optimized configurations.

Background: In pattern-specific scoliosis exercises and bracing, the corrective treatment plan differs according to different curve patterns. There are a limited number of studies investigating the reliability of the commonly used classifications systems. Objective: To test the reliability of the augmented Lehnert-Schroth (ALS) classification and the Rigo classification. Methods: X-rays and posterior photographs of 45 patients with scoliosis were sent by the first author to three clinicians twice at 1-week intervals. The clinicians classified images according to the ALS and Rigo classifications, and the data were analysed using SPSS V-16. Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) and standard error measurement (SEM) were calculated to evaluate the inter- and intra-observer reliability. Results: The inter-observer ICC values were 0.552 (ALS), 0.452 (Rigo) for X-ray images and 0.494 (ALS), 0.518 (Rigo) for the photographs. The average intra-observer ICC value was 0.720 (ALS), 0.581 (Rigo) for the X-ray images and 0.726 (ALS) and 0.467 (Rigo) for the photographs. Conclusions: The results of our study indicate moderate inter-observer reliability for X-ray images using the ALS classification and clinical photographs using the Rigo classification. Intra-observer reliability was moderate to good for X-ray images and clinical photographs using the ALS classification and poor to moderate for X-ray and clinical photographs using the Rigo classification.Clinical implications: Pattern classifications assist in creating a plan and indication of correction in specific scoliosis physiotherapy and pattern-specific brace applications and surgical treatment. More sub-types are needed to address the individual patterns of curvature. The optimisation of curve classification will likely reduce failures in diagnosis and treatment.

The actual extent of the female employment challenge in India is much debated. Data on female labour force participation (FLFP) in India is hampered by shortcomings in data validity and data accuracy. The objective of this article is to explore challenges to data accuracy through two potential sources of error: measurement error and reporting error. Drawing on a unique source of granular survey data from households in four north Indian urban clusters, we demonstrate that the precise nature of the survey employed has meaningful impacts on the reporting of FLFP. Furthermore, the gender composition of respondents also seems to matter although, after controlling for gender, self-reporting is indistinguishable from proxy reporting.
