Taking the configuration design of the lifting device in a bridge crane as an example, this paper discusses the green optimal design method of enterprise's modular products with uncertain factors. The multi-layer generalized operators and comprehensive mathematical model under uncertainty are established based on the mapping relationship between product function and its structure. The model is transformed to an ascertaining combinatorial optimization model by de-fuzzy operator, and then it is solved by GA (Genetic Algorithm, GA). The method of chromosome encoding in binary that the chromosome is segmented by components and the genes in each segment are ranged as corresponding structures of each component, and the methods of selection and crossover and mutation operator are presented in this paper. The result of the green configuration design on the lifting device verifies the effectiveness and practical value of the method proposed in this paper.

To solve the problem on the indeterminacy of customers’ demands, a new fuzzy configuration design based on decision table is presented. Generalized product configuration model is proposed and taken as the basic of configuration design. Generalized product configuration model is composed of generalized product structure BOM,structure-function units and configuration rules. Configuration rule is expressed with decision table, and it constrains the process of the configuration design. Fuzzy theory is applied in configuration design. Configuration engine accesses decision table and carries out the configuration reasoning with fuzzy theory in configuration design. Finally, the application on the transmission system of wind turbine verifies the feasibility and validity of this method.

Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE) helps sharing and reusing knowledge in modern mechanical design field. As a core part of KBE, various methods of knowledge representation were studied. In order to reuse the mechanical design knowledge, the methodology of ontology-based knowledge representation was discussed. First, the concepts, formal description, specialties and languages of ontology were described. Then, three categories of ontology in the field of mechanical design, general ontology, domain ontology and product ontology, were discussed. The product ontology was analyzed by the configuration design method. Finally, an example of ontology-based knowledge representation for mechanical products was studied. The work about ontology-based knowledge representation methodology may support the application of KBE in mechanical design field.

According to the overseas and domestic researches on green design and mass customization, this paper does research on green product configuration design method based on the three configuration algorithms, and proposes a new product configuration method aiming at realizing the goal of green design under mass customization (MC). By studying on green design method based on product configuration, strong support is provided for enterprises with green manufacturing both in theory and method.
