The purpose of this study is to verify whether increasing the intensity of ICT utilization in environmental collaboration practices (ECPs) in the supply chain has a positive impact on firms’ financial performance (FP). As such, it answers the call for investigating the moderators of firms’ FP in their environmental supply chain management. The paper presents the results of a study conducted among 500 firms located in Poland with the use of the CATI technique. The research results show that increasing the intensity of ICT utilization in ECPs, in most cases, does not affect the firms’ FP. Statistically significant relations were observed only in green design ECPs, which shows that increasing the intensity of ICT utilization in green design ECPs reduces the likelihood of revenue growth thanks to ECPs implementation. The paper fills a research gap in the moderating role of the intensity of ICT utilization in increasing financial benefits thanks to the implementation of ECPs in the supply chain. As such, it contributes to the environmental supply chain management literature. The results highlight the need for further research on the moderators of firms’ financial benefits from ECPs implementation, which should be studies in isolation but also jointly, to verify their combined effect. Also, the character of different ECPs categories should be studied to link them with the most appropriate ICT.

The purpose of this paper is empirically assessment of the impact of the green supply chain on supply chain performance in terms of social, operational, and environmental, for Jordanian chemical industries. In this paper, the proposed model was developed based on literature review and previous exploratory studies related to GSC and different kinds of SC performance. Tested on sample equal 150 managers of Jordanian detergent manufacturing factories and the returned ones that applicable for analysis were 120 questionnaires, which analyzed using AMOS 27. The results were as follows: there is no impact of green purchase, green production, and green distribution on supply chain performance. While there is an impact of green supply and green design on SC performance, taking into consideration the community and region of study.

Green design and manufacturing strategies are necessary to cope with the current resource, energy, and environmental problems of the manufacturing industry. To meet various enterprises’ needs for green design and manufacturing, colleges and universities should integrate these concepts into their curricula. This study discusses the application of green strategies in the mechanical engineering field from the viewpoints of teaching, scientific research, and practical education. Based on its development and a basic connotation analysis, this study highlights the challenges and urgency of incorporating green concepts into teaching and research modules of mechanical engineering, as well as methods and implementation strategies to incorporate them in professional curricula using teaching method reform and the teaching and research integration method. An experimental training course of advanced manufacturing processes at the authors’ institution was amended to emphasize the integrated application of green design and manufacturing. This integration not only enriches the field of mechanical engineering but also provides scientific research directions and methods to educators, along with new ideas to imbibe students with mechanical talents for their technical development. These efforts lay the foundation for the sustainable development of China’s manufacturing industry.

Background: Blood glucose monitoring (BGM) is essential for glycemic control in diabetic therapy. Followingly, accurate sensors are required for both daily personal and clinical use. The frequency of sensor use in patients with diabetes facilitates the use of disposable components. However, BGM systems are not exempt from green innovation sustainability initiatives. Methods: Clinical study of a high-accuracy green design blood glucose monitor using an innovative optical transmission absorbance system was carried out. Venous blood samples were collected from 104 patients with type II diabetes. The heat resistance of sensor strips was evaluated by storing sensor strips at 25℃ and 60℃ for approximately 3 months. Accuracy of the BGM system was evaluated via the ISO 15197:2013 protocol. Results: The BGM system achieved ±7.1% accuracy in glycemic level measurement, with 84% of all measurements within ±5% of the reference values. Furthermore, the sensor strip demonstrated heat resistance for more than 3 months when stored at 60℃. Conclusions: A new, highly accurate BGM system was developed based on the latest optical measurement system, introducing a rare metal-free “green-strip.” The developed BGM system achieved the highest reported accuracy in clinical research, using venous blood from patients with diabetes. The sensor strip also exhibited high heat resistance, reducing limitations on storage conditions.

This paper discusses the relationship between green buildings and fire safety from a higher perspective including the traditional fire factors, fire resilience, sustainable building SAFR, social, ecological, and economic fields. There is no need to sacrifice fire safety in the name of sustainability. There is no direct report of fire incidents with green design elements. However, indirectly from the characteristics of residents, green buildings have a high degree of intersection with vulnerable groups, which directly affects the life safety of green building fires. The gray water recycling design of sustainable buildings (green buildings) combined with a simple waterway-connected sprinkler system will be an excellent cooperation example between green (Green Design) and red (Fire Safety). Taiwan’s photovoltaic development plan is expected to reach the 500 MW in 2025, which is equivalent to 2.5% of the government’s promotion target of 20 GW. Whether a PV fire occurs during the day or night, photovoltaic modules will generate lethal electricity, which is a potential hazard to first responders and rescue team.

With the rapid advancement of online food delivery and takeaway markets, the use of disposable chopsticks has exponentially increased in China, resulting in the reduction of forest resources and the generation of large amounts of chopstick waste. This review summarizes a variety of methods to produce eco-friendly chopsticks with the aim of enabling a second life cycle for chopstick waste. The related practical recycling systems and policies based on government experience in developed regions are proposed. Furthermore, perspectives with regard to the future development of waste chopsticks recycling systems are also discussed.
