The paper presents solutions to the actual problem of intelligent analysis of telemetry data from small satellites in order to detect its technical states. Neural network models based on modern deep learning architectures have been developed and investigated to solve the problem of binary classification of telemetry data. It makes possible to determine the normal and abnormal state of the small satellites or some of its subsystems. For the computer analysis, the data of the functioning of the small satellites navigation subsystem were used: a time series with a dimension of 121690 × 9. A comparative analysis was carried out of fully connected, onedimensional convolution and recurrent (GRU, LSTM) neural networks. We analyzed hybrid neural network models of various depths, which are sequential combinations of all three types of layers, including using the technology of adding residual connections of the ResNet family. Achieved results were compared with results of widespread neural network models AlexNet, LeNet, Inception, Xception, MobileNet, ResNet, and Yolo, modified for time series classification. The best result, in terms of classification accuracy at the stages of training, validation and testing, and the execution time of one training and validation epoch, were obtained by the developed hybrid neural network models of three types of layers: one-dimensional convolution, recurrent GRU and fully connected classification layers, using the technology of adding residual connections. In this case, the input data were normalized. The obtained classification accuracy at the training, validation and testing stages was 0.9821, 0.9665, 0.9690, respectively. The execution time of one learning and validation epoch was twelve seconds. At the same time, the modified Inception model showed the best alternative result in terms of accuracy: 0.9818, 0.9694, 0.9675. The execution time of one training and validation epoch was twenty seven seconds. That is, there was no increase in the classification accuracy when adapting the well-known neural network models used for image analysis. But the training and validation time in the case of the best Inception model increased by more than two times. Thus, proposed and analyzed hybrid neural network model showed the highest accuracy and minimum training and validation time in solving the considered problem according to compared with a number of developed and widely known and used deep neural network models.

The need for tracking and evaluation of patients in real-time has contributed to an increase in knowing people’s actions to enhance care facilities. Deep learning is good at both a rapid pace in collecting frameworks of big data healthcare and good predictions for detection the lung cancer early. In this paper, we proposed a constructive deep neural network with Apache Spark to classify images and levels of lung cancer. We developed a binary classification model using threshold technique classifying nodules to benign or malignant. At the proposed framework, the neural network models training, defined using the Keras API, is performed using BigDL in a distributed Spark clusters. The proposed algorithm has metrics AUC-0.9810, a misclassifying rate from which it has been shown that our suggested classifiers perform better than other classifiers.

Background: Identifying user suitability plays a vital role in various modalities like neuromuscular system research, rehabilitation engineering and movement biomechanics. This paper analysis the user suitability based on neural networks (NN), subjects, age groups and gender for surface electromyogram (sEMG) pattern recognition system to control the myoelectric hand. Six parametric feature extraction algorithms are used to extract the features from sEMG signals such as AR (Autoregressive) Burg, AR Yule Walker, AR Covariance, AR Modified Covariance, Levinson Durbin Recursion and Linear Prediction Coefficient. The sEMG signals are modeled using Cascade Forward Back propagation Neural Network (CFBNN) and Pattern Recognition Neural Network. Methods: sEMG signals generated from forearm muscles of the participants are collected through an sEMG acquisition system. Based on the sEMG signals, the type of movement attempted by the user is identified in the sEMG recognition module using signal processing, feature extraction and machine learning techniques. The information about the identified movement is passed to microcontroller wherein a control is developed to command the prosthetic hand to emulate the identified movement. Results: From the six feature extraction algorithms and two neural network models used in the study, the maximum classification accuracy of 95.13% was obtained using AR Burg with Pattern Recognition Neural Network. This justifies that the Pattern Recognition Neural Network is best suited for this study as the neural network model is specially designed for pattern matching problem. Moreover, it has simple architecture and low computational complexity. AR Burg is found to be the best feature extraction technique in this study due to its high resolution for short data records and its ability to always produce a stable model. In all the neural network models, the maximum classification accuracy is obtained for subject 10 as a result of his better muscle fitness and his maximum involvement in training sessions. Subjects in the age group of 26-30 years are best suited for the study due to their better muscle contractions. Better muscle fatigue resistance has contributed for better performance of female subjects as compared to male subjects. From the single trial analysis, it can be observed that the hand close movement has achieved best recognition rate for all neural network models. Conclusion: In this paper a study was conducted to identify user suitability for designing hand prosthesis. Data were collected from ten subjects for twelve tasks related to finger movements. The suitability of the user was identified using two neural networks with six parametric features. From the result, it was concluded thatfit women doing regular physical exercises aged between 26-30 years are best suitable for developing HMI for designing a prosthetic hand. Pattern Recognition Neural Network with AR Burg extraction features using extension movements will be a better way to design the HMI. However, Signal acquisition based on wireless method is worth considering for the future.

The goal of this paper is to implement and compare two unsupervised models of deep learning: Autoencoder and Convolutional Autoencoder. These neural network models have been trained to learn regularities in well-framed face images with different facial expressions. The Autoencoder's basic topology is addressed here, composed of encoding and decoding multilayers. This paper approaches these automatic codings using multivariate statistics to visually understand the bottleneck differences between the fully-connected and convolutional layers and the corresponding importance of the dropout strategy when applied in a model.

Grading the quality of fresh cut flowers is an important practice in the flower industry. Based on the flower maturing status, a classification method based on deep learning and depth information was proposed for the grading of flower quality. Firstly, the RGB image and the depth image of a flower bud were collected and transformed into fused RGBD information. Then, the RGBD information of a flower was set as inputs of a convolutional neural network to determine the flower bud maturing status. Four convolutional neural network models (VGG16, ResNet18, MobileNetV2, and InceptionV3) were adjusted for a four-dimensional (4D) RGBD input to classify flowers, and their classification performances were compared with and without depth information. The experimental results show that the classification accuracy was improved with depth information, and the improved InceptionV3 network with RGBD achieved the highest classification accuracy (up to 98%), which means that the depth information can effectively reflect the characteristics of the flower bud and is helpful for the classification of the maturing status. These results have a certain significance for the intelligent classification and sorting of fresh flowers.

Automatic high-level feature extraction has become a possibility with the advancement of deep learning, and it has been used to optimize efficiency. Recently, classification methods for convolutional neural network (CNN)-based electroencephalography (EEG) motor imagery have been proposed, and have achieved reasonably high classification accuracy. These approaches, however, use the CNN single convolution scale, whereas the best convolution scale varies from subject to subject. This limits the precision of classification. This paper proposes multibranch CNN models to address this issue by effectively extracting the spatial and temporal features from raw EEG data, where the branches correspond to different filter kernel sizes. The proposed method’s promising performance is demonstrated by experimental results on two public datasets, the BCI Competition IV 2a dataset and the High Gamma Dataset (HGD). The results of the technique show a 9.61% improvement in the classification accuracy of multibranch EEGNet (MBEEGNet) from the fixed one-branch EEGNet model, and 2.95% from the variable EEGNet model. In addition, the multibranch ShallowConvNet (MBShallowConvNet) improved the accuracy of a single-scale network by 6.84%. The proposed models outperformed other state-of-the-art EEG motor imagery classification methods.

Abstract Recent rapid progress in deep neural network techniques has allowed recognition and classification of various objects, often exceeding the performance of the human eye. In plant biology and crop sciences, some deep neural network frameworks have been applied mainly for effective and rapid phenotyping. In this study, beyond simple optimizations of phenotyping, we propose an application of deep neural networks to make an image-based internal disorder diagnosis that is hard even for experts, and to visualize the reasons behind each diagnosis to provide biological interpretations. Here, we exemplified classification of calyx-end cracking in persimmon fruit by using five convolutional neural network models with various layer structures and examined potential analytical options involved in the diagnostic qualities. With 3,173 visible RGB images from the fruit apex side, the neural networks successfully made the binary classification of each degree of disorder, with up to 90% accuracy. Furthermore, feature visualizations, such as Grad-CAM and LRP, visualize the regions of the image that contribute to the diagnosis. They suggest that specific patterns of color unevenness, such as in the fruit peripheral area, can be indexes of calyx-end cracking. These results not only provided novel insights into indexes of fruit internal disorders but also proposed the potential applicability of deep neural networks in plant biology.
