Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology
Keyword(s):
Pediatrics and gynecology have developed as separate disciplines, each requiring its own specialized training for Board qualification. There is no uniformly recognized age limit to pediatric care; relatively few pediatricians feel properly trained to handle menstrual disorders in adolescents. Gynecologic disturbances in young girls are managed, for the most part, by the mother's obstetrician and he, also, may have little experience in developmental sexual abnormalities.
