Distribution extension and geographic distribution map of Elachistocleis helianneae (Anura: Microhylidae): new record for state of Amapá, Eastern Amazon

We provide a record of Elachistocleis helianneae from the municipality of Macapá, the first from the state of Amapá, northern Brazil. This is also the species’ most eastern occurrence and significantly extends the known distribution by 350 km from the closest previously known occurrence in the municipality of Belém, state of Pará; the new record is ca. 1,600 km from this species’ type locality at Humaitá, state of Amazonas.

In this study we report the first record of the giant torrent frog Megaelosia apuana in the state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. The finding of this species at Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural (RPPN) Mata do Sossego, municipality of Simonésia, east of Minas Gerais extends its geographic distribution by 120 km from the type locality, and 45 km northwest from its westernmost known record. In the present work we report the first record of Chiroderma trinitatum Goodwin, 1958 for the state of Rondônia, northern Brazil. A map with all known records of C. trinitatum from Brazil is also presented. The record is based on a fluid preserved specimen with skull removed. The new record, though expected, fills a distributional gap in the Amazonic region of Brazil.

Microcaecilia taylori is known to occur from the Guianan region to south of the Amazon in the state of Pará, Brazil. Here we provide a new locality record for the species, east of the Tocantins River, 190 km from the nearest record. The specimen was active under the leaf litter in daylight and is the largest specimen of M. taylori recorded to date.

We provide the first record of Pseudopaludicola boliviana from the state of Amapá (municipality of Macapá), northern Brazil. It is also the species easternmost record, extending its known geographic distribution in Brazil about 1,260 km from the state of Roraima, northern Brazil. Additionally, we also provide a call description for this population of P. boliviana and make comparisons with the available acoustic data for the species from Bolivia and Argentina. This new record fills a gap in the distribution of P. boliviana in northern Brazil.

We report a female Physalaemus soaresi Izecksohn, 1965 collected at the Atlantic rainforest of Serra do Mendanha, municipality of Rio de Janeiro, state of Rio de Janeiro, southeastern Brazil. Known only from two localities (and probably extinct in one), P. soaresi is considered a threatened species in Brazil and presumably threatened in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Despite the new record, P. soaresi still fits into the status of endangered and requires the full protection of all areas where it occurs.

Notidobiella amazoniana Holzenthal & Blahnik, 2010 was known only from the type locality in Amazonas state, Brazil. Herein, we provide the first record of N. amazoniana for Roraima state, thus extending the geographic range of this species to the northernmost state of Brazil. Its occurrence in Roraima also represents the first record of the family Sericostomatidae for the state and the most northern record of the genus in South America. Information on the holotype of N. amazoniana and a distribution map for all species of Notidobiella are provided.

Herein, we report a new record of the milk frog Trachycephalus coriaceusfor the Brazilian southern Amazonia and provide an updated geographic distribution map. We collected one specimen of T. coriaceuson 8 november 2016, during a nocturnal survey inside a dense ombrophilousforest in the right bank of the Teles Pires River, municipality of Jacareacanga, southern of Pará State. The record of T. coriaceusto Jacareacanga is the first to the State. The disjoint geographic distribution of this species along de Amazonia may just reflect the paucity of amphibian knowledge throughout this biome and the difficulty to detect this species in the field, given its explosive reproductive behavior.

Enyalius bibronii Boulenger, 1885 is a Neotropical lizard registered in seven northeastern Brazilian states; in this paper we present the first record of Enyalius bibronii for the state of Alagoas, Brazil, and a distribution map for this species. These records fill the gaps of the geographical distribution of E. bibronii, in the north region of the São Francisco River in Brazil.
