We report new records of the recently reestablished Lamanonia ulei (Engl.) L.B.Sm. (Cunoniaceae) from southeastern Brazil. This species is currently known by only eight specimens from Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo states. We present seven new records that include Espírito Santo state in the species distribution, and expand its north and east limits of occurrence. We also present a taxonomic description, photos, occurrence map, conservation status assessment of L. ulei, and an identification key for all the species of Lamanonia Vell. from Brazil.

Myersiella microps (Duméril and Bibron, 1841) is considered data deficient (DD) in the State of Minas Gerais, Southeastern Brazil. Herein we provide new records and a geographic distribution map of this Poorly known species. These data provide valuable information for a conservation status assessment of M. microps.

A new species, Calea arachnoidea, which belongs to Calea sect. Meyeria, is hereby described and illustrated. This species occurs in the Serra Negra region, located in the southern portion of the “Zona da Mata” in the state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. Calea arachnoidea resembles C. quadrifolia, C. heteropappa and C. semirii, and its relationships with these species are discussed and an identification key for the species of C. sect. Meyeria in the state of Minas Gerais is provided. Additionally, photographs, a distribution map, comments about habitat and conservation status are provided.

A new species of Mimosa is described from the Atlantic Rainforest and ecotone with the Cerrado of southeastern Brazil, in the states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo: M. porrecta L. Jordão, M.P. Morim & Baumgratz (Leguminosae). Related to M. sensitiva, it shares morphological affinities with this species but differs in having porrect-stellate trichomes, a new type of trichome for the genus, on the stems, and the dendritic trichomes in the fruits. The conservation status was assessed, according to IUCN criteria, as Least Concern.

Anupdated circumscription and a taxonomic treatment of Chamaecrista sect. Absus subsect. Absus ser. Rigidulae is presented based on the results of previous phylogeny study where the series has emerged as monophyletic with exclusion of two species (C. brachyblepharis and C.ciliolata) and inclusion of two others species (C. botryoides and Ch. sincorana) in its circumscription. This revision resulted from consulting the specialized literature, analyzing of about 1400 collections from national and foreign herbaria. In this new circumscription, the series becomes the largest series of the genus with 32 species endemics to Brazil and distributed mainly in the Brazilian Central Plateau. Two new records in Brazilian states were reported, one to Bahia (Ch. feliciana) and two to Minas Gerais (Ch. benthamiana, Ch. rupestrium); an identification key of the species, morphologic descriptions, notes on taxonomy and geographic distribution of the taxa, conservation status, as well as illustrations and images of diagnostic characters are presented. In addition, the species typification remains updated with all categories indicated first with their respective barcodes.

We report the rediscovery of Lonchophylla bokermanni – a species threatened by extinction in Brazil – in Minas Gerais after 25 years (where it was known only from the type-locality), and add three new localities from Espírito Santo, southeastern Brazil. The external and craniodental measurements of the additional specimens fall within the expected range of values for L. bokermanni, although specimens from the Atlantic Rainforest (Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo) show a tendency to be smaller.

Croton claussenianus was rediscovered after a lapse of 156 years in the same state (Minas Gerais, Brazil) where the type was collected. A description, first illustration, distribution, phenology, and the conservation status of C. claussenianus are provided here; its typification, sectional placement, and relationships are discussed. An identification key to C. claussenianus and its closest relatives in Minas Gerais State is also provided.

The distribution of Anthus nattereri, an endangered species, is extended at least 170 km to the north of the nearest locality in southeastern Brazil. New records of five individuals are provided from the municipality of Itabirito, within the Quadrilátero Ferrífero region, Minas Gerais state. Anthus nattereri was photographed and tape-recorded, sometimes in sympatry with Anthus hellmayri, a species it closely resembles. Records were made mostly on burnt open grasslands (“campos limpos”) making the conservation of this species a difficult task.

A new species of Calea sect. Calea, endemic to the rocky grasslands of the municipality of Diamantina, Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil, is described. Calea diamantinensis is morphologically similar to Calea lantanoides which differs by its leaf blade elliptic (vs. ovate to widely ovate), margin entire and straight (vs. crenate and revolute), surface solely glandular-punctuated (vs. villous), receptacle paleae obtrullate (vs. narrowly elliptic), capitulescence composed by 3–4 heads (vs. 6–12 heads), cypselae glandular-punctuated ca. 2.7–3 mm long (vs. non-glandular, ca. 1.8–2.5 mm long) and pappus scales ca. 15–17 (vs. 20–25). Illustration, photos, distribution map, habitat considerations and conservation status are provided, as well as an identification key for Calea species from the municipality of Diamantina, Minas Gerais.

This study describes and illustrates three new species of Anthurium Schott sect. Urospadix Engl. subsect. Obscureviridia Engl. from the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil: A. temponiae Nadruz & Theófilo, A. martinellii Nadruz & Theófilo, and A. erythrospathaceum Nadruz & Theófilo. Information about their conservation status within priority areas of the Atlantic Forest is included, together with distribution maps and an updated key to the species of subsection Obscureviridia.
