AbstractThe high average-utility itemset mining (HAUIM) was established to provide a fair measure instead of genetic high-utility itemset mining (HUIM) for revealing the satisfied and interesting patterns. In practical applications, the database is dynamically changed when insertion/deletion operations are performed on databases. Several works were designed to handle the insertion process but fewer studies focused on processing the deletion process for knowledge maintenance. In this paper, we then develop a PRE-HAUI-DEL algorithm that utilizes the pre-large concept on HAUIM for handling transaction deletion in the dynamic databases. The pre-large concept is served as the buffer on HAUIM that reduces the number of database scans while the database is updated particularly in transaction deletion. Two upper-bound values are also established here to reduce the unpromising candidates early which can speed up the computational cost. From the experimental results, the designed PRE-HAUI-DEL algorithm is well performed compared to the Apriori-like model in terms of runtime, memory, and scalability in dynamic databases.

From some points of view, Harsanyi stands apart from other theorists discussed in this book. He was a utilitarian, and he focuses on the hypothetical choices of a single individual. Nevertheless, his construction has been influential, and he has good claim to be the founder of the device of the veil of ignorance. He uses the orthodox utility theory of rationality to show that behind a veil of ignorance in which a hypothetical individual had an equal chance of being anyone in society, rationality would lead to that person adopting the principle of maximizing average utility. Utilitarianism can be represented as the maximizing choice of a rational individual behind the veil of ignorance. A central element in Harsanyi’s construction is the idea of ethical individualism, which he holds is captured in an axiom of independence defining the rationality of choice. He also revives the idea of the interpersonal comparability of utility. His reliance on interpersonal comparisons is a potential point of criticism, as is the argument that, strictly speaking, he has not shown that utilitarianism is required, as distinct from merely being consistent with, his principles of rational choice. A more fundamental criticism is that the phenomenon of preference reversals, well established in empirical literature, call into question the independence axiom. Preference reversals are intelligible. In relation to some cases, they suggest too an important distinction between rational choice and prudent choice.

Many people believe that we have responsibility towards the distant future, but exactly how far this responsibility reaches and how we can find a reasonable ethical foundation for it has not been answered in any definitive manner. Future people have no power over us, they form no part of our moral community and it is unclear how we can represent them in a possible original position. All these problems can be circumvented when you take an impersonal decision criterion like maximizing total or average utility. Such a sum-ranking criterion is neutral with respect to distance in time or space: my utility, my neighbour's and that of our descendants all carry the same weight. This makes future people an integral part of present decisions. Time-neutrality was defended by, among others, Sidgwick, Pigou and Ramsey.
