The mechanical reliability design method is a common method, and it is the most direct and effective method to carry out the mechanical reliability design at present. The reliability optimization design is an effective optimization design method which is developed in combination with the reliability design theory on the basis of the conventional optimization design. Taking the antifriction bearing as an example, this paper systematically expounds all kinds of mechanical reliability design methods. Through comprehensive analysis of various factors that affect the reliability of colliery machine, the index system of colliery machine reliability evaluation is established. Because of the complexity and diversity of the use of colliery machine in the evaluation system, and the fuzziness of human thinking, it is difficult to give the deterministic evaluation information in numerical form, so this paper also analyzes the design method of colliery mechanical reliability, and puts forward an interval fuzzy evaluation method for colliery mechanical reliability evaluation to avoid overload operation of colliery machine and ensure safety production and safety of workers. The simulation results show that the inherent law of reliability is effectively characterized by this method, and it provides a evidence for security produce and scientific decision-making of colliery mechine.

Firstly, methodology of valve spring’s static strength and fatigue strength reliability analysis is built up, and detailed computational formulas to derive distributions of the stress and strength are described. Secondly, to make full use of the material characteristic and consider reliability of the mechanism part, taking the spring’s mass as the objective function and based on spring’s traditional and reliability constraints, mathematic model of reliability optimization design of valve spring is established using mechanical reliability design method and mechanical optimization design method. At last, the proposed method is applied to a practical spring design example by integrating optimization tools with the optimization model. The comparison of reliability optimization design results and traditional optimization design results shows that the reliability optimization method is practical and reliable; its design results can satisfy all design requirements with smaller mass.

The material properties and geometry of rotor system are random parameters because of the manufacturing environment, manufacturing and installation errors and other factors. Based on the reliability design theory, the reliability sensitivity technique and the robust design method, the frequency reliability robust optimization method of rotor system is extensively discussed. The frequency reliability sensitivity is added to the reliability-based optimization design model of rotor system. The frequency reliability robust design is described as a multi-objection optimization. The method presented provided the theoretic basis for the reliability robust design of the rotor system. A numerical example demonstrated that the proposed method is effective.

This paper introduces an effective new Design For Quality tool called the Assembly Reliability Evaluation Method (AREM) that visualizes assembly fault potential. The distinctive features of AREM are: (1) visualization of parts and operations having a high fault probability; (2) evaluation of shop reliability, as well as product reliability and, (3) easy data input by symbol selection as well as simultaneous assemblability evaluation; can be evaluated quantitatively. The method can be integrated with other DFX tools such as the Assemblability Evaluation Method (AEM), and the Recyclability/Disassemblability Evaluation Method (REM/DEM) to realize a comprehensive production design evaluation system.

In the paper, we establish an evaluation system in the study of four aspects such as people, regulation, equipment and technology management, field management and engineering construction. We present an entropy weight multi-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model in power plant security on the basis of reliability identification. Firstly, it identifies the reliability of power plant security evaluation system. Secondly, it can meet the condition that the system is reliable. Then it obtains the indicator weight of all levels in the evaluation system by the entropy weight method. Finally, it carries out a comprehensive evaluation in power plant security by the multi-level fuzzy evaluation method.

For the development of the System Based Code, which was proposed by Asada and intends to optimize structural design of nuclear components by enabling margin exchange between various technical options, a tool for life cycle structural reliability evaluation method is necessary. For this purpose, the authors are developing a material strength and structural reliability evaluation system MSS-REAL. The system is primarily for fast breeder reactors but its methodologies can also be applied to the other types of reactors. This paper summarizes the features of the MSS-REAL system with examples and also describes a future development plan.

The damage or deterioration of the mechanical components is a complex and non-linear evolutionary process, but this evolution was not included into the traditional mechanical design method. Therefore, the reliability’s accuracy rate declined over time by this method. To describe the actual situation, combining the time-dependent design method and the maximum predictable time theory, a new design method is presented. By using this method, the reliability of all time horizons can be gained to predict the trend of key parts’ reliability for all machines. This research can also provide a basis for maintenance of machine.
