Leisure participation is important for well-being and has been attributed to improved quality of life for autistic individuals. Rigorous studies exploring the leisure participation of autistic adults are sparse. This study aimed to compare the type of leisure activity and frequency of participation between autistic adults and neurotypical adults as well as compare and identify factors associated with their leisure satisfaction. Data for 145 autistic and 104 neurotypical adults were obtained from time point one of the Australian Longitudinal Study of Adults with Autism. The primary outcome measure used was the Leisure Satisfaction Scale. Autistic adults were less satisfied with their leisure overall (mean = 3.29, standard deviation = 0.75) compared with neurotypical adults (mean = 3.69, standard deviation = 0.55). Multiple linear regression revealed being younger and reporting less depressive symptoms were significantly associated with higher leisure satisfaction in autistic but not neurotypical adults. Engagement in solitary leisure activities was comparable across participants, but socialising in person was predominated by neurotypical adults. Leisure activity preferences of autistic adults’ and the frequency of their leisure participation are important factors for clinicians to understand when working with this population and tailoring well-being interventions.

The purpose of this study was to examine the difference in leisure satisfaction, job satisfaction and organization commitment according to individual vs group leisure activity and to find out whether job satisfaction mediate relationship of leisure satisfaction and organization commitment. Participants of this study were 553 employees of various organizations in Jeonbuk. Reliability Cronbach's of questionnaire was .936~.846 and validity was verified by applying confirmatory factor analysis. The collected data were statistically analyzed through t-test, correlational analysis and Structural Equation Model(SEM) with SPSS 19.0 and AMOS 19.0. As a result, we found that there were significant differences between individual and group leisure activity on leisure satisfaction, job satisfaction and organization commitment. so the employees who participated in group leisure activity is higher than employees who participated in individual leisure activity. Also, job satisfaction fully mediated the relationship between leisure satisfaction and organization commitment both employees who participated in individual and group leisure activity. In other words, we confirmed that participating in group leisure activity raised the level of leisure satisfaction, and leisure satisfaction effected on job satisfaction and organization commitment. Finally, we discussed significance, limitation of this study then implications for further research.

The benefits of serious leisure activities demonstrate the significance of serious leisure participation. This study is thought to contribute to literature on how leisure time participation can be generated and sustained. This research presents a case study analysis on how an individual can be a significant leisure participant. In line with the purpose of the study, an “Astro pitch” organization was done which was originally started by the researcher but later continued by participants themselves willingly without any intervention. This organization continued on Mondays and a total of 14 participants (7 in each team) participated in the activity for about 8 months. Semi-structured interview technique (a qualitative technique) was used during data collection. While the games continued (they are still going on), the participants were first informed about serious leisure activities and they were asked whether this organization was considered as a serious leisure activity by them. Later, the researcher prepared a theoretical framework to ask participants how the organization was born, how it continued non-stop with the same participants and the general benefits of this organization. The main ideas obtained by the researcher were analyzed in terms of content by using Maxqda program and codes, categories and themes were obtained. According to themes found in this study; a leader is required for the participants to be a serious leisure participants and to sustain the activity; the activity should include opportunities for the individual to stand out, there must be rapport in the group, and the activity should be enjoyed.
