AbstractSamples of (TlGaSe_2)_1 – _ x (TlInS_2)_ x solid solutions are synthesized. The frequency dependences (2 × 10^1–10^6 Hz) of components of the total complex impedance are studied by the impedance spectroscopy technique and relaxation processes are investigated depending on the composition of the (TlGaSe_2)_1 – _ x (TlInS_2)_ x solid solution in the solubility region ( x = 0–0.4). Corresponding diagrams on the ( Z ''– Z ') complex plane are analyzed using the equivalent substitutional circuit method. An anomaly in the temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity, which manifests itself in an abrupt increase in the conductivity, is found for the studied (TlGaSe_2)_1 – _ x (TlInS_2)_ x solid solution at 400 K. This peculiarity is associated with the phase transition into the superionic state.

Purpose: The development of an electric impedance meter based on the impedance spectroscopy technique, for in vitro and in situ experimentation, with cellular epithelia submitted to extremely low frequency magnetic fields in a controlled environment. Unlike other reported systems, a strength of the one presented here is that it avoids the influence of external factors on the experiment. Materials and methods: The designed system employs the electrical impedance values obtained by the impedance spectroscopy technique to determine the parameters of the simple equivalent electrical model of a cellular monolayer. The Madin-Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cell cultures were used as subjects of study in the experimental protocol. Results: The validation was carried out by comparing the transepithelial electrical impedance data of the cell cultures obtained with the developed system and those of the Cellzscope® commercial system used as the standard. Non-significant differences were obtained. Conclusion: It was confirmed that the developed system provides reliable values of transepithelial electrical impedance to experiment with cell cultures and take advantage of the controlled environment to reduce the effects of experimental management.

ABSTRACTTo better understand the condition of commercial batteries used in Tesla EVs and stationary applications under real performing situations, this article focuses on tracking the temperature of commercial batteries during varying cycling conditions. We have found evidence of significant impact of cycling methods on batteries in ionic conductivity, inner impedance development, and structural change in both cathode and anode electrodes, which will be further analyzed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique in the following research.
