decline of public spaces by improving the physical structure, as well as the economy. Regeneration can help to reduce issues associated with unemployment, poor health, crime and education, while simultaneously improving the physical environment. Professor Hisashi Shibata is a landscape architect
and urban designer based in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Fukuoka University, Japan. He has an interest in urban regeneration, with a focus on ensuring the safety of public spaces and enhancing their beauty. He believes that this can have a significant impact
