Constructing virtual battlefield terrain is a very important subject in military simulation. In allusion to the shortcoming of actual triangulated irregular network, an adaptive triangular irregular network is proposed in this paper, and the 3D modeling of the battlefield terrain is built. Effectiveness and speediness of the proposed method was demonstrated by the experiment result, and the details and precision of terrain mode1 is better than others.

The article explains the possibilities of reconstructing heritage objects. Measurements were made using photogrammetric data received from digital images taken by the Canon EOS 1D Mark III digital camera calibrated in the Institute of Photogrammetry at the University of Bonn (Germany). The images were received applying the PhotoMod photogrammetric software produced in Russia. TIN (Triangulated Irregular Network) and an orthophoto map were made in the investigated objects. The modelling analysis of TIN data was made using ArcGIS software. The purpose of the article is to reconstruct the surface of heritage objects referring to photogrammetric data, to investigate accuracy dependence of heritage object reflection on the methods of preparing the initial data and to evaluate the influence of modelling methods on to the accuracy of reconstructing heritage objects when modelling photogrammetric data and selecting the most appropriate method of modelling parameters to restore the most accurate surface of the heritage object. Santrauka Straipsnyje aprašomos paveldo – architektūrinio objekto paviršiaus modeliavimo galimybės. Modeliavimas atliktas pagal fotogrametrinius objekto duomenis–skaitmenines nuotraukas, darytas kalibruota fotokamera Canon EOS 1D Mark III. Kamera kalibruota Bonos universiteto Fotogrametrijos institute (Vokietija). Objekto nuotraukos apdorotos fotogrametrine kompiuterine programa PhotoMod (Rusija). Sudaryta objekto ortofotografinė nuotrauka ir, parenkant skirtingus duomenų šaltinius, paviršiaus TIN (triangulated irregular network). Skirtingais metodais, naudojantis ArcGIS programa, atliktas fotogrametrinių TIN duomenų modeliavimas ir gauti objekto paviršiaus vaizdai. Įvertintas rezultatų tikslumas ir kokybė.

Timely and accurate identification of change detection for areas depicted on nautical charts constitutes a key task for marine cartographic agencies in supporting maritime safety. Such a task is usually achieved through manual or semi-automated processes, based on best practices developed over the years requiring a substantial level of human commitment (i.e., to visually compare the chart with the new collected data or to analyze the result of intermediate products). This work describes an algorithm that aims to largely automate the change identification process as well as to reduce its subjective component. Through the selective derivation of a set of depth points from a nautical chart, a triangulated irregular network is created to apply a preliminary tilted-triangle test to all the input survey soundings. Given the complexity of a modern nautical chart, a set of feature-specific, point-in-polygon tests are then performed. As output, the algorithm provides danger-to-navigation candidates, chart discrepancies, and a subset of features that requires human evaluation. The algorithm has been successfully tested with real-world electronic navigational charts and survey datasets. In parallel to the research development, a prototype application implementing the algorithm was created and made publicly available.

How to keep the fidelity of the digital elevation model (DEM) data is a crucial problem in the current watermarking research, as the watermarked DEM data need to preserve their accuracy. We proposed a zero watermarking method for the triangulated irregular network (TIN) DEM data. It takes full advantage of the characteristics of the edge length in the TIN DEM data. First, the radio of the edge lengths is quantified to the watermark index, and then the comparison of the edge lengths is quantified to the watermark bit. Finally, the watermark is constructed by combing the watermark bits according to the watermark indices with the help of the majority voting mechanism. In the method, the TIN DEM data are only used to construct the watermark, not to be embedded by the watermark. Therefore, the data quality is preserved to the greatest extent. Experiments verify the theoretical achievements of this method and demonstrate the method is lossless to the TIN DEM data. Simulation results also show that the method has good robustness on translation, rotation, scaling, and cropping attacks.

This paper presents an innovative computer graphic method for viewshed generation from big point clouds. The proposed approach consists in simplification of typical methods for viewshed formation that are based on sorting and binary trees. The proposed method is based on the k-d tree concept optimized with radial segmentation and a dedicated mathematical algorithm for subtree rejection. The final visualization of the viewshed is designed with a graphic method using triangulated irregular network (TIN) surfaces from the accepted subtrees.
