ABSTRACT. This paper presents a proposal for implementing a processing flowchart for high-resolution single-channel seismic data acquired in Guanabara Bay, followed by its interpretation. Geologically, it consists of mapping the Guanabara Bay Quaternary deposits relative to the drowning of a fluvial paleochannel that resulted from recent sea level changes. So far, high-resolution seismic data have been interpreted without any signal improvement, while the development of a processing flowchart for this is hardly addressed in the literature. The parameters were selected based on the processing applied to conventional seismic prospecting for oil and gas in order to compose a less extensive and more applicable flowchart. The results confirmed the efficacy of the processing applied to shallow seismic data, with noise and multiples attenuation and better lateral continuity of reflectors in subsurface, thus increasing the quality of the final seismic record.Keywords: Processing, shallow seismic, Guanabara Bay, high-resolution seismic. RESUMO. O presente trabalho apresenta uma proposta de aplicação de um fluxo de processamento para dados de sísmica monocanal de alta resolução adquiridos na Baía de Guanabara e, posteriormente, sua interpretação. O objetivo geológico consiste no mapeamento dos depósitos Quaternários da Baía de Guanabara relativos ao afogamento de um paleocanal fluvial como consequência das variações recentes do nível do mar. Até o momento os dados de sísmica de alta resolução vêm sendo interpretados sem a aplicação de nenhuma melhoria e a elaboração de um fluxo de processamento para tal é raramente abordada na literatura. Os parâmetros foram selecionados para a elaboração do fluxo com base no processamento aplicado à sísmica convencional na prospecção de hidrocarbonetos de forma a compor um fluxo mais sucinto e aplicável. Os resultados obtidos nos perfis analisados comprovaram a eficácia do processamento de dados de sísmica rasa, com a atenuação de ruídos, das múltiplas de fundo e maior continuidade lateral dos refletores em subsuperfície, aumentando assim a qualidade do registro sísmico.Palavras-chave: Processamento, sísmica rasa, baía da Guanabara, alta resolução sísmica.

<p>In marine seismic surveys, various acquisition systems are used depending on the survey purpose, target depth, survey environment, and conditions. A 3D survey of oil and/or gas exploration, for instance, require large-capacity air-gun arrays and six or more streamers with a minimum length of 6 km. In contrast, a high-resolution seismic survey for the shallow-water geological research and engineering needs a small capacity source such as air-gun, sparker, and boomer, deployed with a single-channel or multi-channel (24-channel) streamers. The main purpose of our seismic survey was to investigate the Quaternary geology and stratigraphy of offshore, Korea. Because the Quaternary is the most recent geological period, our target depth was very shallow at about 50 m below the sea-bottom. We used a high-frequency seismic source including a sparker of 2,000 J capacity or a 60 in<sup>3</sup> mini GI-gun and an eight-channel streamer with a 3.125 m group interval or a single-channel streamer that included 96 elements. To compare the resolution of seismic data according to the seismic source, a boomer or sparker systems were used with the single-channel streamer on a small survey ship. The seismic data processing was performed at the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) with ProMAX, and the data processing and resolution of each survey were compared based on their acquisition systems.</p>

AbstractLago Argentino hosts various calving glaciers, among them the famous Perito Moreno. Whereas the onland late Pleistocene–Holocene glacial history is rather well constrained, the submerged glacier-related features were until now undisclosed. Here we present a series of high-resolution seismic profiles revealing moraine bodies associated with the late-glacial glacier dynamics and the first bathymetric map of the Brazo Rico and Brazo Sur, the two southern arms of Lago Argentino. At the eastern termination of Brazo Rico, we identified at the lake floor the submerged expression of the Puerto Bandera 3 moraine mapped onshore, which represents the oldest event (12,660 ± 70 cal yr BP oldest minimum age) recognized in this lake arm, and seven other younger events expressed by a series of terminal and recessional moraines. Along the Brazo Sur, few moraine bodies have been imaged by seismic data. Here, the youngest temporal constraint comes from the Frías moraine (ca. 6000 cal yr BP), which closes off the southern end of the Brazo Sur. At the confluence of the two arms, the Perito Moreno and the former Frías glacier merged and flowed toward east during their late-glacial maximum advance (i.e., Puerto Bandera 1 moraine). The subaqueous evidence of moraine bodies testifies to the occurrence of previously undocumented pulses of the Perito Moreno and former Frías glaciers within the general phase of late Pleistocene–Holocene regression.
