Writers on jurisprudence often stress that conflict between positive laws and morality does not invalidate the positive laws. A law which requires me to compensate another for an injury caused by a dangerous object kept on my property is not invalidated by the fact that I have not been negligent and have no moral obligation to compensate the injured person. And although I have a moral obligation to keep my promises, positive laws may validly imply that I need not keep promises not made for a consideration or under seal. Thus positive law may permit acts not permitted by morals and may forbid acts permitted by morals. The lesson drawn from these thoughts is that to establish a positive law as valid we need not consider the relationships it bears to the rules of morals. A valid law is simply a law created in accordance with the constitutional conventions or ‘rules of recognition’ of the society in which it is to be applied. It is the manner of its establishment, not its relationship to morals, which makes a law valid.

AbstractObjects observation automatically elicits the activation of a reach-to-grasp response specifically directed to interact with the object, which is termed affordance. Murphy, van Velzen, and de Fockert (2012) found that only when an irrelevant object receives sufficient attention, it can potentiate an action. However, it remains unclear whether the dangerous object would afford an action when it receives insufficient attention. In this study, we manipulated the perceptual load in a letter identification task. Participants were required to identify a target letter with the right or left hand while ignoring a neutral or dangerous graspable object. The target letter was presented either on its own (low perceptual load), alongside five non-target letters (high load), or alongside eight non-target letters (super high load). Under the low perceptual load, for both neutral and dangerous object, responses were faster when the action afforded by the ignored object was congruent (vs. incongruent) with the current target response (t(27) = 4.44, p < .001; t(27) = 7.99, p < .001, respectively). However, during the high perceptual load, for dangerous object, responses were slower when the action afforded by the ignored object was congruent (vs. incongruent) with the current target response (t(27) = 4.97, p < .001). There was not any effect for both neutral object and dangerous object under super high perceptual load. These results suggest the affordance of dangerous object is also sensitive to the perceptual load. An irrelevant dangerous object can’t potentiate an action if it receives insufficient attention.

In this paper, we consider the trajectories of real and model asteroids that lead to collisions with the Earth. They highlight the close approaches to the Earth that precede the impact. The presence of such approaches allows you to detect a dangerous object in advance, clarify its orbit, and also use the effect of a gravitational maneuver to economically prevent an asteroid from hitting the Earth. The article considers various families of collision trajectories: possible trajectories of real dangerous asteroids, as well as model ones trajectories that are not linked to a specific object. It is shown that in the first case, the approaches preceding the collision are noticeably greater.

The results of preparations for dismantling and demolition work of a semi-destroyed two-storeyed apartment building with a basement in the central part of Samara are presented. The dwelling house adjoining the destroyed house has a common wall with it. The object is on the street with active pedestrian and automobile traffi c. For the demolition of a residential house a project for the production of work (PPW) was developed with incomplete initial data. The document selected the means of mechanization, determined the sequence of work, shows the most dangerous elements in the production of works, proposed security measures. The work of the contractor for an additional survey of a dangerous object using a quadrocopter DJI Phantom 3 Standard is refl ected. An additional correction of the PPW is introduced. The illustrations of both the design part and the order of the works on the dismantling of the building are given.
