Abstract Thelaziosis is a parasitic disease of the eye that has become more common in Europe over the last twenty years. It is caused by a nematode, order Spirurida, family Thelaziidae. The transmission of this parasite occurs by the dipteran flies. Thelazia callipaeda occurs in the conjunctival sac, under the third eyelid or in the lacrimal ducts, causing blepharospasm, conjunctivitis, keratitis and sometimes corneal ulceration. Thelaziosis is a zoonotic disease. It occurs in humans, domestic animals and wildlife. Between 2016 and 2018 three cases of canine ocular thelaziosis occurred in dogs admitted to the Small Animals Clinic in Kosice, Slovakia. In all cases, the systemic and local treatments were administered. The parasites were removed from the conjunctival sac. The identification of Thelazia callipaeda was performed by microscopic examinations.

Ocular Thelaziasis is an arthropod-borne, zoonotic disease of the eye affecting the conjunctival sac, lacrimal duct, and lacrimal gland caused by a nematode of the genus Thelazia. Thelazia species aretransmitted by different species of Muscidae, which are a family of flies with worldwide distribution. The present study reports a case of human ocular Thelaziasis in a 13-year-old female patient.Species Thelazia callipaeda was confirmed based on microbiological examination. The patient wastreated with anti-helminthic drugs and was relieved of the symptoms without recurrence.

Introduction. Hydatid disease is caused by the tapewormEchinococcus granulosusand is still a matter of public health in many regions of the world, where it is an endemic parasitic disease. Although the liver is the most involved organ, hydatidosis can be found anywhere in the human body. Rare forms of location may lead to diagnostic and therapeutic dilemmas.Case Report. Herein we report a rare case of acute abdominal pain and progressively increasing abdominal distension due to abdominal and multiple splenic echinococcosis in a 72-year-old Caucasian male. We also provide a brief review of the literature.Conclusion. Although hydatid disease is found most often in the liver and lungs, rarely any organ of the body can be involved by this zoonosis. Though rare, the possibility of unusual location of echinococcosis must always be considered by the operating surgeon, when dealing with diffuse abdominal pain in endemic areas, because any misinterpretation may result in unfavorable outcomes.

A case of traumatic dislocation of the fourth and fifth carpo-metacarpal joints and fracture of the base of the third metacarpal is presented. It is recommended that lateral X-rays of the hand be taken if dislocation is suspected at this level, as the injury may be missed on standard X-rays.
