Abstract: The paper deals with numerical research as to how material damping influences the load-bearingstructures in dynamic loads. Certain technique is suggested for modelling behaviour of structure in time historyanalysis with account of material damping. A set of motion equations is solved according to Newmark method asmatrix. Physical meaning of material damping is described. The authors suggest the technique for account ofdifferent materials in parts of structure. The following example is provided: analysis of structure together withsoil and with account of earthquake loads. Analysis results are compared (with and without account of materialdamping). Significant influence of damping on the stress-strain state of the structure is confirmed.
