This paper presents a theoretical study of the performance of constant power operated swash plate pumps equipped with hydromechanical controllers incorporating either pivoted levers or two feedback springs. Mathematical models of these controllers are derived and used to simulate the static and dynamic characteristics of a small pump of 40 cc/rev geometric volume. Results show that the controller with the pivoted lever renders better static and dynamic characteristics compared to the controllers with feedback springs. Results also show that changing the power through varying the lever arm length is preferable than varying the valve spring initial compression, when the dynamic characteristics of the pumps with controllers of pivoted levers are considered. The effect of the valve spring initial compression on the static performance of a pump incorporating a controller with two feedback springs is also investigated.

The underwater structure of power house is major structure under the dynamic loads of unit. The vibration problem is very common in operation. So the structures should have sufficient stiffness to resist dynamic loads of unit. This paper establishes three-dimensional finite element models with finite element analysis software—ANSYS. Dynamic characteristics of the power house and dynamic responses of structure under earthquake are analyzed. The results of the computation show that fluid-solid coupling may be ignored when studying dynamic characteristics of structures of the underground power house.

This paper, which is based on West-East Gas Transportation Project, manages to build mathematical models to describe hydraulic characteristics and simulate the operation of the system. It studies the impact of changes in hydraulic system, and analyzes the fluctuations in operational characteristics of pipeline combined with initial conditions and boundary conditions, particularly those delivery points that connect different consumers, and investigates operation characteristics and the interaction between laterals, liaison pipelines and the mainline.

To calculate flow parameters of a vaneless diffuser of the centrifugal compressor stage, it is sufficient to determine the loss coefficient and the flow direction at the outlet. The paper presents the results of modeling the characteristics of these two parameters using neural networks and CFD methods. To obtain mathematical models, ANSYS calculation data was used for vaneless diffusers with a relative width of 0.014–0.1, relative outlet diameter of 1.4–2.0, inlet flow angle of 10–90° and velocity coefficient of 0.39–0.82, with the Reynolds number being in the range of 87 500–1 030 000. A comparison with the theory showed the regularity of gas-dynamic characteristics, and comparison with well-known experiments showed the correspondence of the flow structure. In order to improve the accuracy of simulation using neural networks, various recommendations on the preparation and processing of the initial data were collected and tested: identification of conflict examples and outliers, data normalization, improving the quality of the neural network training under the insufficient amount of sampling, etc. The application of the aforementioned recommendations significantly improved the accuracy of simulation. A simulation experiment based on neural models for studying the influence of dimensions, diffuser shape and similarity criteria on the diffuser gas dynamic characteristics made it possible to verify physical adequacy of the mathematical models, obtain new data on energy conversion processes and produce a set of recommendations on the optimal design of vaneless diffusers.

The distinctive paper is devoted to problem of identification the dynamic characteristics of mathematical models based on the measured dynamic characteristics of real constructions. It is describes a problem of discrepancy of measured and modeling eigen pairs. It is shown that the problem is systemic. The creation and verification processes of mathematical (finite element) models used in the design constructions need some work and adjustments. For a reliable analysis of the construction ways are suggested to overcome the identified gaps using adaptive procedures.

Ball mills with double inlets and outlets (BMDIO) are widely equipped in milling systems of thermal power plants because of BMDIOs’ vantage on being able to pulverize various raw coal. In this paper, dynamic characteristics of mill’s coal level were studied by pulverizing coal mechanism analysis. Furthermore, models for filled level of mill were obtained with mathematical Equations. The nonlinear, strong coupling and large lag features of BMDIO’s dynamic characteristics were demonstrated by the model for level of materiel constructed in this paper. And, the model would be become the available theory basis for the calculation of pulverized coal into furnace and design of combustion in fossil-fired thermal unit.
