In history, geometry was founded more as a practical endeavor than a theoretical one. Early developments of the branch portray philosophers' attempts to make sense of their surroundings, including the measurement of distances on earth and in space. Such a link between earth and space sciences and geometry motivated us to develop and implement a multidisciplinary lesson focusing on the conceptual understanding of the law of cosines in the context of astronomy. In our content specific STEAM lesson, the authors aimed to facilitate an understanding of the law of cosines in ninth grade students, and then apply the law in a star map task to find approximate distances between stars. The second part of the lesson also included the use of an instructional technology to support students' work with the star map task. In the conclusion, the authors discuss possible ways to improve the quality of their STEAM education efforts for the given context.

The law of cosines has always frustrated those teachers who wish to use it computationally. The transformation developed in this paper makes it more amenable to the use of logarithmic computation.

The aims of this study were to analyze: (1) the significance effects of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Method on the motivation to learn PPKn, (2) the significance effects of PBL Method on PPKn learning result, (3) the significance effects of PBL on the result and motivation of the students in PPKn learning process, and (4) to find out the effectiveness among PBL Method, the Inquiry and Conventional Learning Method in learning PPKn. This research was quasi experiment by pretest-posttest control group design. The participants were the 10th grade of SMA Negeri 1 Pacet Mojokerto 2016/2017 year academic. The results: (1) there were significance effects of the PBL Method on the motivation to learn PPKn; (2) there were significance effects of PBL Method on PPKn learning result; (3) there were significance effects of Problem-Based Learning on the result and motivation to the students in PPKn learning process; (4) the most effective method of learning PPKn was Problem-Based Learning.

The structure of the device and the course of the experiment are given. The work also discusses laboratory work No. 7, proposed in the physics textbook [1] of the 10th grade, to test this law. As a result of the corresponding experiments, the obtained numerical results were analyzed.
