Ahmedabad University has evolved a framework “ENABLE.” Through ENABLE, concepts are taught from the context of real world. Industry projects are assigned to groups of students where they get engaged in real scenarios. Theoretical concepts are introduced as and when needed during the project implementation. Faculty serve as facilitators rather than teachers. Grasping and understanding complex concepts become much easier through ENABLE. Students are evaluated continuously through quizzes, presentations, class participation, assignments, peer feedback, and so on. In this article, the detailed implementation of ENABLE for the course Database Management System has been described.

On Urban road networks, road agencies need to quickly identify road pavement distresses in order to identify appropriate maintenance and rehabilitation strategies. This is integral as agencies are plagued with financial and time constraint issues. There have been several attempts over the last few years to identify new solutions and techniques to solve these issues. Several of these have shown merit and accuracy in identifying distresses. However, the techniques in many instances are not correlated to available distress identification standards. One of the considered techniques is the use of Structure-from-Motion, which tries to recreate 3D distress models for identification and analysis. This paper considers this methodology and attempts to integrate it with measurement requirements used by distress manuals to illustrate how the technique can be used with real-world industry standards and practices. Case studies of different measurement types, on an urban road in Palermo, Italy, are considered. The results from these examples show that the technique replicates pavement distresses of varying measurement requirements and the paper presents a workflow of how it can be utilized to help optimize the pavement management system and their connections to different distress identification manuals worldwide.

Code summarization, aiming to generate succinct natural language description of source code, is extremely useful for code search and code comprehension. It has played an important role in software maintenance and evolution. Previous approaches generate summaries by retrieving summaries from similar code snippets. However, these approaches heavily rely on whether similar code snippets can be retrieved, how similar the snippets are, and fail to capture the API knowledge in the source code, which carries vital information about the functionality of the source code. In this paper, we propose a novel approach, named TL-CodeSum, which successfully uses API knowledge learned in a different but related task to code summarization. Experiments on large-scale real-world industry Java projects indicate that our approach is effective and outperforms the state-of-the-art in code summarization.
