Ciliwung River flows through the city center and passes through the village, dense housing and slums. So that the river is experiencing the most severe pollution mainly household waste water and industrial pollution compared with other rivers that flow in Jakarta. One of the efforts to control pollution of the river is by monitoring the water quality of the river. This monitoring should be carried out continuously online to analyze the quality of water entering or residing in the water bodies. To support the plan of installing online monitoring system of river water quality is necessary to know the perception of people who are in locations where the system installed. This is done with the aim to socialized the implementation plan and to determine the support and participation of the public in the vicinity. The results of this study show that the majority of the population supports the installation of technology online water quality monitoring in the Ciliwung River. With the hope that people can know directly how the conditions of Ciliwung River water quality.Key words: Ciliwung river, online monitoring of water quality technology, public perception

]:With increasingly serious pollution to surrounding environment, water quality is deteriorating gradually, which on a certain level threats our daily life. In order to detect problems timely, based on FPGA, Multi Parameter Water Quality Online Monitoring System is designed, which, taking Cyclone II FPGA that supports Nios II processor as the core, is responsible for data acquisition, analysis and processing. Data communication adopts General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) to realize the data transmission from acquisition point to the monitoring center. In the analysis of the existing problems of the current water quality monitoring systems, we present the structure and working principle of this system, and then illustrate them from two aspects: hardware and software. Practice shows that the Multi Parameter Water Quality Online Monitoring system with a simple structure is steady, reliable and easy-operated in processing multi-point data acquisition and remote monitoring the whole system, and proves a widely application in the water supply plant of villages and small towns.Key words: FPGA; Water quality; Nios II; remote monitoring

Semayang Lake and Melintang Lake in Kutai Kartanegara district, East Kalimantan is one of the biggest lake in Indonesia. Both lakes are located in the Mahakam River Basin and has an important role for economic and ecological activities in the Province of East Kalimantan. In addition to being a source of livelihood for fishermen around the lake, is also as habitat for freshwater mammals Pesut Mahakam that are endangered. Illegal logging in the forest around the lake, causing floods when it rains and water pollution will increase with sediment flowing into the lake. In some areas also get the impact of transportation activities of coal mining industry around the Mahakam River. All this causes silting almost the entire surface of the lake, lead to a reduction of existing fishery potential and cause extinction of Pesut Mahakam. To control pollution in the lake, local government of Kutai Kartanegara has implemented an online monitoring technology to monitor the water quality of the lake in four point location. Monitoring results are used to support local goverment in taking pollution control policies in both lakes. Keywords: Water quality online monitoring system, lake water quality monitoring system, GSM  and SMS technology, multiprobe sensor, telemtry system.

Douhe Reservoir (DR) is the most important water source for the city of Tangshan, China. In this paper, a new online monitoring and management system is developed for the purposes of water quality management and human health protection. The system includes two parts: an online monitoring system, consisting of a biological early warning system (BEWS) and a physical factor monitoring system (PFMS), and an environmental management system. Once BEWS warns of changes in water quality, PFMS is used to determine whether there has been a water pollution accident. If an accident has occurred, then optimal allocation of source water in DR is initiated on the basis of the results of the online monitoring and management system. Meanwhile, an emergency treatment procedure for accidental pollution of DR, which includes laboratory testing of water quality and the treatment of polluted water, is carried out. Therefore, the online monitoring and management system will provide an effective approach to make water management and human health protection.

Bioethanol is mainly produced by sugar fermentation process. Due to global demand on energy for transportation and environmental concern, biofuels as renewable energy in replacing petrol, the non-renewable energy source, has come into picture. Utilization of lignocellulosic biomass such as woody biomass (trees), herbaceous biomass (grasses) and waste cellulosic materials (solid waste) could be used in replacing starch (such as corn and potato) as source of sugar in producing bioethanol. Recently, study on cellulosic ethanol was focussing on fermentation process using ethanologenic strain such as engineered Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Invasive method in the study during fermentation may lead to uncertain or unwanted screening strategies or metabolic pathways. This paper reviews about the online monitoring system used by researchers in order to study the growth kinetics of ethanologenic strain. Online monitoring system for the Oxygen Transfer Rate (OTR) and Carbon dioxide Transfer Rate (CTR) is found to be the important method to study kinetic model of ethanologenic strain, thus increasing metabolic yields with optimum design condition.
