The aim of the present study was to specify the nature of the relationships between work and marital satisfaction in the women. In addition it aimed at revealing as to whether demographic variables, such as age, position, length of service, marriage duration, and the number of children have an impact upon the work and marital satisfaction in working women. The present study included 120 married, working women, and analyses the relationship between job satisfaction and marital satisfaction, taking into consideration emotional and cognitive factors. The participants were mostly office workers, of whom 20 (8%) occupied management positions. The Descriptions Inventory, Job Affect Scale, Questionnaire of Well-matched Marriage, and a scale of work-job interactions were administered. Significant positive correlations across almost all variables of job and marital satisfaction were observed. This means that the increase of marital satisfaction corresponds with the increase in job satisfaction, although the work/family conflict resulted in experiencing negative emotions at work. Moreover, the level of job satisfaction was higher than the level of family satisfaction. It was also found that the age and time spent at work proved to have a negative impact upon job satisfaction. Work-family facilitation proved to be crucial since its exclusion made the interface between all factors of family satisfaction and work insignificant. At the same time, the managerial women suffered from work/family conflict to a greater degree than did office workers. The study revealed also that the needs of older workers should be taken into account to maintain their work/life balance.

Marital satisfaction refers to a global level of favourability that individual spouses report with their marital relationship. Marital Satisfaction is often viewed as an individual’s interpretation of the overall quality of the marriage or the person’s happiness with the marriage. The aim of the study was to analyse the difference in marital satisfaction between women working in multinational companies, teaching profession, health profession and bank profession. A between group design with purposive sampling was opted for the study. Thirty each of women working in multinational companies, teaching profession, health profession and bank profession were considered for the study. Women between age group of 30 to 50 years, working at least from past 05 years and married for at least past three years and having at least one child aged above 4 years were considered for the study. Women who are single mothers/separated from husband/widows were not considered for the study. The sample was administered marital satisfaction scale, the responses were scored adequately and results analysed using appropriate statistical measure. The analysis of results in relation to ANOVA indicated that there was significant difference in marital satisfaction between the four groups of working women in different professions. The mean values and t ratio on the different domains indicates that health professional group had significantly better marital satisfaction than teaching professional, bank professional and women working in multinational companies. The teaching professional group has significantly better marital satisfaction than bank professional and women working in multinational companies. The bank professional group has significantly better marital satisfaction than women working in multinational companies. The results and scores also indicates that of the four groups of working women the group with high marital satisfaction is women working as health professionals, followed by teaching professionals and bank professionals. Of the four groups of working women the group with least marital satisfaction is women working in multinational companies. The results are discussed in detail also in reference with other studies and implications of the study are highlighted in background to problems faced by women in different occupations.

The present study aimed to identify the level of marital satisfaction among a sample of women in Amman city / Jordan, and its relation to some variables, The sample included 165 women, it was randomly selected, the researcher designed a questionnaire that measures the level of marital satisfaction, which included 20 paragraphs, each paragraph measures one dimension related to marital satisfaction, The questionnaire was applied by the study members, The statistical analysis showed: 1- The level of marital satisfaction for all members of the study was medium level of marital satisfaction. 2- No statistically significant differences in marital satisfaction due to the variable number of years of marriage. 3- No statistically significant differences in marital satisfaction due to the variable number of children.4- No statistically significant differences in the levels of marital satisfaction between working and non-working women.5- There are statistically significant differences in marital satisfaction due to the variable educational level of women. 6- There are statistically significant differences in marital satisfaction due to the variable family income. This is a logical consequence of the nature of the study community.The study recommended providing preventive counseling services for young men and women before marriage, and provide counseling services for couples about mechanisms of effective marital interaction, in order to reduce the risk factors leading to marital failure.
