Perangkat sumber daya manusia (Brainware) merupakan sumber yang terlibat dalam pembuatan sistem informasi, pengumpulan dan pengolahan data dalam sistem komputer, pendistribusian dan pemanfaatan informasi yang dihasilkan sistem informasi tetentu. Brainware termasuk bagian yang sangat penting dari pengoprasian sistem komputer. Brainware adalah perangkat intelektual yang mengoperasikan dan mengeksplorasikan kemampuan dari perangkat keras dan perangkat lunak. Walaupun demikian komponen brainware tidak dapat dipisahkan dari komponen lainnya. Tingkatan brainware terdiri atas system analyst, programmer, administrator, dan operator.Human resource devices (Brainware) are sources involved in making information systems, collecting and processing data in computer systems, distributing and utilizing information generated by certain information systems. Brainware is a very important part of operating a computer system. Brainware is an intellectual device that operates and explores the capabilities of hardware and software. This paper was written to guide educators in the selection of computer systems for instructional applications. Four systems representing different cost categories are compared via a set of twenty-five parameters. Besides the PLATO system, the other three computer systems are different capability microcomputers. The approach of this study was to compare computer systems by enumerating the costs and benefits. Problems associated with the cost-benefit analysis are also discussed.
