Abstract NI-ROD 44HT is designed for joining iron castings to similar materials and to dissimilar materials such as carbon and stainless steels and nickel-base alloys. The product is similar to NI-ROD Filler Metal 44 (see Alloy Digest Fe-114, November 1996), but is modified to significantly improve its performance at elevated temperatures. The alloy is Ni-Fe-Mn with an addition of chromium and niobium to improve its resistance to high-temperature corrosion. This datasheet provides information on composition, hardness, and tensile properties. It also includes information on joining. Filing Code: Ni-615. Producer or source: Special Metals Corporation.

Abstract CARPENTER STAINLESS TYPE 317 is a modified version of the conventional 18% chromium-8% nickel stainless steel made by adding molybdenum (3-4%) and more nickel (nominally 13%). Molybdenum is added to improve resistance to corrosion by certain specific corrodents. The extra nickel is added to keep the steel austenitic by offsetting the well-known effect of molybdenum in promoting the formation of ferrite. Type 317 has higher tensile and creep strengths than the 18-8 stainless steels at elevated temperatures. Its many uses include equipment to handle paper pulp and high-temperature applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as creep. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-423. Producer or source: Carpenter.

Abstract Nimrod 182 and 182KS are Inconel-type consumables containing manganese and niobium. The electrodes are used to join nickel-base alloys to themselves and to mild, low-alloy, and stainless steels. These weld metals are also used for transition joints and with cryogenic 3 and 5% Ni steels. This datasheet provides information on composition, hardness, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on high temperature performance as well as heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Ni-578. Producer or source: Metrode Products Ltd.
