This paper researched on Needham-Schroeder symmetric key authentication protocol based on BAN logic. It pointed out the flaw of the protocol which can be used by replay attack and improved the protocol by adding nonce in the transferred message. Then it listed the improved NS authentication protocol. Finally, this paper proved the improved protocol successful and available with BAN logic.

Background: Cloud computing is a service that is being accelerating its growth in the field of information technology in recent years. Privacy and security are challenging issues for cloud users and providers. Obective: This work aims at ensuring secured validation of user and protects data during transmission for users in a public IoT-cloud environment. Existing security measures however fails by their single level of security, adaptability for large amount of data and reliability. Therefore, to overcome these issues and to achieve a better solution for vulnerable data. Method: The suggested method utilizes a secure transmission in cloud using key policy attribute based encryption (KPABE). Initially, user authentication is verified. Then the user data is encrypted with the help of KP-ABE algorithm. Finally, data validation and privacy preservation are done by Burrows-Abadi-Needham (BAN) logic. This verified, and shows that the proposed encryption is correct, secure and efficient to prevent unauthorized access and prevention of data leakage so that less chances of data/identity, theft of a user is the analysis and performed by KP-ABE, that is access control approach. Results: Here the method attains the maximum of 88.35% of validation accuracy with a minimum 8.78ms encryption time, which is better when, compared to the existing methods. The proposed mechanism is done by MATLAB. The performance of the implemented method is calculated based on the time of encryption and decryption, execution time and validation accuracy. Conclusion: Thus the proposed approach attains the high IoT-cloud data security and increases the speed for validation and transmission with high accuracy and used for cyber data science processing.

Security is critical in a home gateway environment. Robust secure mechanisms must be put in place for protecting information transferred through a central location. In considering characteristics for the home gateway environment, this paper proposes a bundle authentication mechanism. We designed the exchange mechanism for transferring a shared secret key. This transports a service bundle safely in the bootstrapping step, by recognizing and initializing various components. In this paper, we propose a bundle authentication mechanism based on a MAC that uses a shared secret key created in the bootstrapping step. In addition, we verify the safety of the key exchange mechanism and bundle authentication mechanism using BAN Logic. From the verified result, we achieved goals of authentication. That is, the operator can trust the bundle provided by the service provider. The user who uses the service gateway can also express trust and use the bundle provided by the operator.

Tools to evaluate Cryptographic Protocols (CPs) exploded into the literature after development of BAN Logic.2,3 Many of these were created to repair weaknesses in BAN Logic. Unfortunately, these tools are all complex and difficult to implement individually, with little or no effort available to implement multiple tools in a workbench environment. We propose a framework that allows a protocol analyst to exercise multiple CP evaluation tools in a single environment. Moreover, this environment exhibits characteristics that will enhance the effectiveness of the CP evaluation methods themselves.

The existing Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) based handover authentication schemes have show robust security features especially the Qi Jing et al.'s design, which not only meets the essential security requirements in handover authentication but also achieves privacy preservation. However, it still suffers pitfalls in the process of authentication. The main idea of this paper is to extend the work by Qi Jing et al. and particularly focus on the formal analysis using extending BAN logic which is more concise yet practical to use on PKI-based protocols.
