As construction industrialization is springing up in our country, precast concrete frame structure,as a result,has been developing rapidly. Based on a host of articles about precast concrete frame structure system at home and abroad,it,in this paper,summarized and prospected the latest stress performance research of precast concrete frame structure and up-to-date engineering application. Further more, total assembled node and seismic behavior of precast concrete frame structure is also pointed out as what is needed to study in the future.

The strong earthquakes occurred in Southern Europe in the last decade pointed out a poor seismic performance of the connection system of the cladding of precast industrial structures. The cladding of these buildings usually consists of sandwich concrete panels of remarkable mass, connected to the frame structure with mechanical devices. The estimation of the out-of-plane seismic action on these connections is a key step for their correct proportioning. However, the formulation currently provided in the Eurocode 8 for the estimation of the seismic action on non-structural elements was calibrated with different objectives. Furthermore, given there is no in-plane structure-panel interaction, a quote of the panel mass is lumped in correspondence of their connection for a correct proportioning of the frame structure. The designers need to make assumptions on both aspects that often bring to remarkably different solutions. The paper presents a consistent dynamic formulation of the problem of the vibration of rigid bodies connected with cantilever columns. The solution brings to closed-form equations to evaluate the exact out-of-plane action on the connections and the correct amount of panel mass to be lumped.

PurposeMonolithic precast concrete frame structures have been promoted and developed in recent years. Owing to material deterioration and a weaker structural integrity, monolithic precast concrete frame structures may suffer from insufficient seismic capacity as service time increases. A typical joint of monolithic precast concrete frame structure is studied in this paper. The purpose of this paper is to perform numerical modeling of the typical joint subjected to low cyclic load at different ages and analyze the hysteretic behavior reduction with ages under common atmosphere environment.Design/methodology/approachExisting un-carbonated concrete, carbonated concrete and corroded rebar are all considered as deterioration factors for the typical joint, whose constitutive models are introduced into the finite element model to study. Moreover, time-dependent constitutive model of existing un-carbonated concrete and mechanical model of bond between precast and cast-in-place concrete are established on the basis of existing experimental data. Then, finite element method is used to investigate the seismic property reduction of the typical joint, where nonlinear springs are set to simulate bonding between precast and cast-in-place concrete.FindingsAnalyzing the results, the reduction of reaction force from skeleton curves of the joint is significant in the first 30 years of service time, and slows down after 30 years. Besides, the ductility, secant stiffness and equivalent viscous damping coefficient of the typical joint remain almost unchanged in the first decade, but decrease obviously after 10 years.Originality/valueThe originality of the paper consists in the following. The time-dependent constitutive model of existing un-carbonated concrete is established and used in finite element method. Besides, bonding between precast and cast-in-place concrete is considered using nonlinear springs. There is a reference value for the seismic performance assessment of existing monolithic precast concrete frame structures.

The performance of precast concrete frame structures against seismic loads mainly depends on the beam-to-column connection. A ductile hybrid connection consists of unbonded post-tensioning steel and bonded reinforcement bars, both of which provide overall moment resistance to the frame. Post-tensioning steel acts as a restoring force which brings the structure back to its initial position upon unloading. Mild steel acts as an energy dissipator which yields in tension and compression. To evaluate the performance of precast frame structures, the structural engineer requires extensive knowledge of the complex nonlinear behavior of the connection. Standardization to mass produce is one of the benefits of precast construction, but with standardization in design there is severe risk. All previous earthquakes have clearly shown that continuous repetition of accepted practice without proper engineering review can lead to disaster. It is important to understand how different parameters of the connection influence the behavior and performance of the frame against seismic loads. The present study helps structural engineers and researchers with a detailed review of hybrid post-tensioned connections. This review is focused mainly on precast beam-to-column connections, studies on the development of hybrid connections, performance evaluations of hybrid connections, and the performance evaluation of precast frames with hybrid connections.
