A series of hot rolling processes with different reduction percentages (10%, 30%, and 50%) were applied to a high-carbon high-chromium tool steel (2HCTS). Microstructural evolutions, wear behavior, high-temperature oxidation, and aqueous corrosion properties were investigated. The results revealed the breakage and dissolution of primary carbides and a uniform carbide distribution after the hot rolling process. It was proposed that the presence of higher amounts of dissolved chromium in the hot rolled samples leads to the formation of Cr-rich oxides with more protection and less porosity at high temperatures, as well as an improved corrosion behavior in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. This improvement in the corrosion behavior is not at the expense of the degradation of wear resistance. Probable mechanisms for carbides dissolution are also discussed.

The solidification process of a high chromium cast iron grate bar used for sinter machine was simulated, and high temperature oxidation resistance was also investigated. The simulation result shows that sequence solidification can be achieved and no shrinkage cavity and porosity were observed. Based on the analysis of the microstructure, it could be known that the grate bar was well protected by the Fe3O4、Fe2O3 and Cr2O3 oxide films at temperatures lower than 800°C.

Abstract Deloro Stellite 20 is a Co-Cr-W-C alloy. It is the most abrasion resistant standard cobalt based alloy. Its high chromium content ensures good general corrosion resistance and high-temperature oxidation resistance, while the increased tungsten level provides superior high-temperature properties as compared to Stellite 6 or 12. While it has low shock resistance, it is often the only answer for some applications such as slurry pumps or chemical resistant parts. It is typically used up to a temperature of about 600 °C (1110 °F), depending on the application. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, microstructure, hardness, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance. Filing Code: Co-135. Producer or source: Deloro Wear Solutions GmbH.

Abstract COLMONOY No. 8 is a nickel-chromium-boron alloy recommended for hard surfacing parts to resist abrasion, corrosion and oxidation. Its high chromium (nominally 26%) contributes resistance to high-temperature oxidation and promotes the formation of chromium carbides for greater abrasion resistance. It is supplied as atomized powder for application with Wall Colmonoy's SPRAYWELD and FUSEWELD processes. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and compressive strength. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and powder metal forms. Filing Code: Ni-230. Producer or source: Wall Colmonoy Corporation.
