Primulina lechangensis (Gesneriaceae), a new species from northern Guangdong province in southern China is described and illustrated. Its morphology suggests affinities to P. longicalyx, but can be distinguished from similar taxon by several distinct characters including: smaller leaf blade (2.0-3.5 × 1.0-1.2 cm), base cuneate-attenuate; smaller bracts (1.0-1.5 × c. 0.15 cm); shorter calyx lobes (0.8-0.9 cm long) tuberculate inside; smaller corolla tube (c. 2 cm long), inflated in the middle and contracted near the mouth; shorter glabrous filaments (0.3-0.4 cm long), inserted 1.3-1.5 cm from base of corolla; stamens and staminodes glabrous; pistil 1.4-1.5 cm long, and capsule c. 1.5 cm long. This species is further exemplified by photographs, and a distribution map is presented.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/bjpt.v21i2.21359Bangladesh J. Plant Taxon. 21(2): 187-191, 2014 (December)

Based on morphological and molecular phylogenetic studies, Semiaquilegia danxiashanensis, a new species from Danxia Shan in northern Guangdong, southern China, is described and illustrated. This species is easily distinguishable from each of other three known species in the genus by characters of the flowers and fruits. In addition, molecular phylogenetic analyses of both the nuclear ITS and the plastid trnL-F region strongly supported S. danxiashanensis as a separate species from other species of Semiaquilegia. We provide a detailed morphological and habitat description, distribution, as well as colour photographs and illustrations of the new species.

Stemodia diplohyptoides (Plantaginaceae), a new species from Gratiolae tribe is described and illustrated. This taxon is found in northeastern Argentina, at the edge of the Parana River that surrounds the north and center of Misiones province (Argentina). It is a diploid that has been traditionally treated under Stemodia hyptoides, which is here re-circumscribed to include only autopolyploid plants (tetraploid and hexaploid). The diploid specimens may be distinguished from the polyploid S. hyptoides by several morphological features such as shape, pubescence and margin of the leaves, corolla length and corolla tube pubescence. In addition, scanning electron microphotographs of seeds, chromosomes numbers, a distribution map and a key to distinguish the related species are also provided. On the basis of morphological, cytological and geographical data, some evolutionary considerations are inferred.

A new species of Gesneriaceae, Primulina porphyrea, is described and illustrated from southern Hunan, China. The new species resembles P. polycephala and P. yangshuoensis in leaf blade shape and indumentum of the plants, but it can be easily distinguished by having long petiole and purple leaf abaxial surface, purple corolla lobes and yellow corolla tube with several reddish-purple stripes, dark yellow filaments, and 3 staminodes. It flowers from May to August.

A new species of Hemiboea, H. roseoalba, from Guangdong, China, is described and illustrated. It is similar to H. gracilis and H. angustifolia in leaf and flower shape, but can be distinguished by leaf blade with serrulate from the middle to the apex, lateral veins 7-9 on each side of midrib; peduncle 2.5-3.0 cm long, glabrous; cymes 4-6-flowered; triangular calyx base connate for c. 0.3 cm; pink corolla 4.0-4.3 cm long and margin of lobes curled or retroflexed; staminodes 3; pistil 3.7-4.0 cm long; disc 2 mm high and truncate stigma slightly swollen.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/bjpt.v20i2.17391Bangladesh J. A new species of the terrestrial orchid genus Nervilia is described and illustrated from material collected at several localities in the Greater Mekong region of Southeast Asia. The multi-flowered inflorescence bearing relatively large flowers with a pubescent lip, and the many-veined, cordate-reniform leaf blade that is held well above ground level, place N. mekongensis in section Nervilia. Despite being superficially similar to N. aragoana, a widespread species of tropical Asia and Australasia, it is most closely affiliated to N. fordii, a species known from southern China and Thailand. It is distinguished by its stout inflorescence and lip that is broadest midway along the hypochile and which has acute, forward-projecting side-lobes and a short, ovate mid-lobe. A conservation assessment plus taxonomic notes are provided.

Salvia luteistriata, a new species from northeastern Sichuan, China, is described and illustrated here. The new species morphologically resembles S. maximowicziana, but it can be easily distinguished from the latter by having bigger maroon corolla with showy creamy-yellow vertical stripes in the internal ventral surface of corolla tube. Other diagnostic characters between them include that the new species has bigger leaf blade, longer bract and pedicel, bigger oblong upper corolla lip, and bigger mericarp. An identification key for the species in Salvia ser. Maximowiczianae, including S. luteistriata, is provided.

Litsea dorsalicana, a new species of Lauraceae from northern Guangxi, China is described and illustrated. It is similar to Litsea elongata, but can be distinguished from the latter by twigs, buds and abaxial leaf surface densely covered with gray-white pubescence, leaf blade oblanceolate to oblong, to 29.5 cm long, 10.5 cm wide, base cuneate to attenuate, fruit red, cupule cup-shaped, once or twice cleft at the margin.

Isodon villosus, a new species from Guangxi, southern China, is here described and illustrated. It is morphologically close to I. lophanthoides and I. phyllopodus, but differs from the former by its declinate corolla tube, included stamens and style, and larger mericarp, and from the latter by its base of lamina not decurrent on petiole, panicle densely septate-villose, as well as posterior lip without spot. A key to all 15 taxa of Isodon from Guangxi is also provided.
