To quote from the preface, this little book is intended "to present . . . basic information on immunologic mechanisms and their application to diagnosis and treatment of human disease." Unfortunately, the book fails in this undertaking, and might be renamed "A Brief Review of Clinical Allergy." There are 96 pages of actual text, and 48 pages (50%) are in the second chapter on clinical allergy-diagnosis, management, and treatment, all in considerable detail. There are sections on colic ("belching and gaseous distention of the abdomen . . . can be relieved by the avoidance of allergenic foods") , vernal catarrh, and the tension-fatigue syndrome.
