The primary scientific mission of the Multi-Purpose Detector (MPD) at the accelerator Nuclotron-based Ion Collider facility (NICA) (Dubna) is to investigate the properties of strongly interacting matter at high net-baryon densities. The goal of this work is to study the performance of the MPD detector for directed and elliptic flow measurements of identified hadrons by using the realistic Monte Carlo simulations of heavy-ion collisions at energies sNN = 4.5 − 11 GeV.

Relativistic heavy-ion collisions provide a unique opportunity to study the expansion dynamics and the transport properties of the produced strongly interacting matter. This article reviews the recent results of anisotropic flow measurements for collision energies from $$\sqrt {s{\rm{NN}}} = 200$$ to 2 GeV.

Strange hadrons, especially multistrange hadrons, are good probes for the early partonic stage of heavy ion collisions due to their small hadronic cross sections. In this paper, I give a brief review on the elliptic flow measurements of strange and multistrange hadrons in relativistic heavy ion collisions at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
