PurposeResponsible innovation (RI) and social innovation (SI) are two fields of innovation study experiencing burgeoning policy, practice and research interest. Despite this rapid rise in popularity, the scholarly literature in these two related areas of innovation study remains quite separate, stymieing the growth of shared research insights. The purpose of this paper is to propose a pragmatic, process-based framework that lends itself to advancing systematic research in both fields while retaining their distinct identities.Design/methodology/approachThis conceptual paper outlines an analogy-inspired framework that builds on the logical thinking put forward by Philosopher Willard Van Orman Quine in 1962. It focusses on key processes that cross-cut both fields.FindingsReflexivity, collaboration and design are identified as three broad core processes that span both the RI and SI fields and form the basis of an integrative framework that highlights the scope for cross-field research pollination.Originality/valueThe literature that draws these two fields together is virtually non-existent. The paper uses analogy to facilitate awareness of the parallels between these two areas of innovation study. The integrative framework put forward in the paper is of value for advancing cumulative research in innovation fields of critical importance to the society.

Cultivating students who have innovated abilities is not only an age requirement but also the focus of engineering education. In engineering education, according to the studies and practices for a very long time, this article establish "three-dimension" innovation talents development model which can improve students’ abilities of self-study and help them fit the society better after their graduation. The seven aspects are teaching method, learning approach, teaching material constructs, auxiliary answering strategy, teaching evaluation, students develop environment and innovation channels. “Three-dimensional” innovation talents development model is designed according to students’ character and their best innovation study result .And it can actually form a three-dimensional layered training model includes “General-form Teaching”, “Extensions Expand” and “Elites Cultivating”. The effect of the practice of "three-dimensional" innovation talents development model is very obvious.

Knowledge integration played a major and centre role in the process of organizations knowledge innovation. Study on the knowledge integration contents and process in organization has important significance. There are four contents of knowledge integration in organization knowledge innovation: knowledge integration between different knowledge main bodies; different knowledge levels; the new and original knowledge system; personal study, team study and organization study. The paper discussed the process of knowledge integration toward organization knowledge innovation based on lify-cycle theory and divided the process into four stages: embryonic stage, development stage, mature stage and diffusion stage. The paper analyzed the knowledge value in different life cycle stages and the result indicates that the knowledge in mature stage is the most valuable.
