scholarly journals Live Scan Plebiscite System

Live scan plebiscite system is an electronic system or device employed in any legal system to cast their votes rather than ballot papers and boxes which used earlier in conventional Election system. The traditional system may be a long, time-consuming process and there’s a clear stage of error and malpractices. Later the system was replaced by electronic voting machine. To overcome the disadvantages of the electronic voting system, biometric identifiers are included in the voting system. Our proposed system consists of a Ballot unit with biometric system. This system verifies the biometrics of the candidate with the already stored data in Aadhar or voter identification card. In the proposed system the voter should verify his/her finger print and only if it matches they can vote. The data of the voters are stored in the cloud and can be retrieved from anyplace, so the voter can vote from any place outside the constituency. In the Electronic voting system, there is a simple unit called ballot unit which is used to record the votes. In this electronic voting only, the votes are recorded and counted and there is no separate unit to verify the voter, so anybody can record the votes and any number of times.

The detection of a false individual who had not been enrolled as a genuine participant in an election could be potentially detected in electronic voting systems as against paper-based methods. In recent time, one-time password and biometrics have been used to curtail false acceptance of imposters. However, imposters had unlawfully stolen the credentials of genuine individuals, gained unauthorized access, and polled illegitimate votes due to poor authentication methodology. The accuracy of a multi-biometric system is a function of the data type used and fusion method adopted. This paper presented a computational fusion approach that involved the use of fingerprint and randomly generated voter identification number to effectively satisfy the authentication security requirement of the electronic voting system. New architectural and mathematical equations on the proposed approach were presented to tackle the problem of false acceptance rate and improve on the true acceptance rate of a biometric system. Algorithm to achieve the proposed approach was presented in this paper as well.

Mongolia introduced a new electronic voting system for the first time for the 2012 parliamentary election. E-voting empowers citizens by making voting simpler and providing better opportunities for certain groups of citizens to participate in the election process. The electoral reform was one of the major steps the parliament carried out in order to restore public trust lost in the violent protests against the 2008 parliamentary election results. A free, transparent, and fair electoral system was important to correct the fraud in the old election system. This chapter examines the effectiveness of the mixed system of election, the electronic voting system, and other changes to the electoral system in Mongolia.

Developing an electronic voting system that meets the practical needs of administrators has been a difficult task for a long time. Now, blockchain technologies solve this problem by providing a distributed ledger with immutable, encrypted, and secure transactions. Distributed ledger technologies are an interesting technological leap in the field of data innovation, transparency, and trustability. In public blockchain, distributed ledger technology is widely used. The blockchain technology can be used in an almost infinite number of ways to benefit from sharing economies. The purpose of this study is to assess how blockchain may be utilized to build electronic voting systems that can be used as a service. The purpose of electronic voting systems is explained in this article, as are the technological and legal limitations of employing blockchain as a service. Then, using blockchain as a foundation, we propose a new electronic voting system that fixes the flaws we observed. In general, this paper evaluates the capabilities of distributed ledger technologies by depicting a contextual investigation in order to fine-tune the process of political election decisions and employing a blockchain-based application that improves security and lowers the cost of conducting nationwide elections.

Nigeria as a democratic nation in Africa uses conventional paper ballot election system for more than two decades now. Enquiry with proof shows that this conventional election system has lost popularity among the people as it has drawbacks, which call for replacement. Therefore, this paper aims in introducing Biometric electronic voting system, its step-by-step operation, and define a set of requirement to achieve the operation, which are better than conventional paper ballot system in terms of accuracy, security wise, and authentication.

Introduction: The notion of electronic voting has evolved over a period of time replacing the traditional system which was based on paper ballots. Several types of electronic voting systems exist, still the implementation is partial and there is a scope for improvement for making it more secure and user-friendly.Method In this paper, a proof-of-concept is presented which aims to address the issues and challenges in the electoral system, by using the concept of Ethereum blockchain and smart contracts. Result: These electronic electoral processes propose a centralized solution that can be easily tampered, thus increasing the problem of distrust in the citizens. To overcome this blockchain technology can be used for implementing mobile based electronic voting system. Blockchain technology is aiding in the development of novel digital services that are more secure and reliable. Discussion: The main objective of this paper is to depict how a feasible, secure and reliable mobile voting system can be built by implementing the concept of blockchain and smart contracts. Conclusion: The issue of security and transparency in the voting system can be addressed using blockchain technology. The present study aims to fulfil these gaps partially by providing use-case for the voting process which is based on mobile and blockchain technology.
