Description and some ecological aspects of two species of Eudactylina (E. rhinabati and E. turgipes) were found parasitic on two specimens of Glaucostegus granulatus and seven of Gymnura poecilura during the period from January 2011 till June 2012 from the north west of the Arabian Gulf (Latitudes 48° 44? to 48° 46?; longitude 29° 46? to 29° 47?). The prevalence of infection and the mean intensity of infection of E. rhinabati and E. turgipes was 40 %, 4.5 and 28.5, 2 respectively. The present finding of E. rhinobati on the gills of G. granulatus represents its first record in fishes of the Arabian Gulf, and its second occurrence in the World, while the finding of E. turgipes  on the gills of G. poecilura in the present study represents a new host record and a new geographical distribution .

Abstract Third-stage larvae (L3) of Hysterothylacium sp. were collected by the first time in juveniles of pirarucu Arapaima gigas farmed in the Rio Preto da Eva, Amazonas state. Ninety-eight (98) out of 100 examined fish showed to be parasitized. Five hundred and ninety larvae of Hysterothylacium sp. were collected from the intestines, stomach and pyloric caeca. The mean intensity of parasite indexes was 6.02 (±5.75) ranging from 1 to 40 larvae per host and the mean abundance was 5.9 (±5.76). The A. gigas is the new host record for larvae of Hysterothylacium sp. in Brazil, and this is the first record of larvae of Hysterothylacium (Nematoda: Anisakidae) with zoonotic potential in the pirarucu from South America.

Thelastomatidae is one of the largest families parasitizing insects, within the order Oxyurida. In this work we reported parasitism in nymphs and adults of Neocurtilla claraziana by two different thelastomatid species as a part of a field survey on agricultural pests. Nymphs and adults of this insect were isolated from grasslands of Buenos Aires State, Argentina using a tensio-active solution. The nematode species Gryllophila skrjabini Sergiev, 1923 and Cephalobellus magalhaesi Schwenk, 1926 are briefly described and measurements are given. Both nematodes are reported for the first time in Argentina with C. magalhaesi being the second isolation of this species in the world. Neocurtilla clarziana is a new host record for G. skrjabini.

Steringovermes notacanthi, a new genus and species of fellodistomine digenean, is described from the deep-sea spiny eel Notacanthus bonaparte from below 1,000m depth in the north eastern Atlantic. It differs from other related genera in the unique combination of a V-shaped excretory vesicle, multilobate, mainly post-testicular ovary and extensive vitelline fields extending into both the foreand hindbody. In addition, the fellodistomine Olssonium turneri Bray & Gibson, 1980 is reported for the first time from a fish not of the genus Alepocephalus, namely the alepocephalid Narcetes stomias.

The following helminth parasites have been recorded from Cetacea caught off the British Columbia coast. Trematoda: Lecithodesmus goliath (fin whale), Lecithodesmus spinosus n. sp. (sei whale) and Ogmogaster plicatus (fin and sei whales); Cestoda: Phyllobothrium delphini (sperm and fin whales); Nematoda: Anisakis simplex (sei, Baird's beaked and sperm whales), Anisakis physeteris (sperm whale), immature Anisakis sp. (fin and humpback whales) and Crassicauda pacifica n. sp. (fin whale); Acanthocephala: Bolbosoma turbinella (sei whale). Crassicauda pacifica and L. spinosus are illustrated and described, and compared with known species of their respective genera. The variations in morphology and measurements are discussed for O. plicatus. Notes on host and geographical distribution are cited for all parasites. Lecithodesmus goliath and O. plicatus are reported for the first time from the Pacific and P. delphini was previously unknown in the North Pacific. Bolbosoma turbinella is a new record for the northeast Pacific and A. physeteris for the Pacific coast of Canada. Baird's beaked whale and possibly the sperm whale are new host records for A. simplex. The fin whale is a new host record for P. delphini and L. goliath.

Large numbers of Plagiorchis (M.) megalorchis Rees, 1952, were found in the small intestine of dying pheasant chicks in Peeblesshire, Scotland. This is the first record of this trematode in pheasants. In one chick one specimen of Brachylaemus fuscatus (Rud, 1819) was found, which is a new host record in this country. Unusual virulence of these trematodes in pheasants and turkeys is noted, showing lack of adaptation to these hosts. In addition to chironomids and midge, culicine larvae were infected with cercariae from naturally infected Lymnaea pereger. It is proposed to consider P. laricola Skrjabin as described and illustrated by Chertkova (1953) to be Plagiorchis bikhovskayae n.nom.The author wishes to express his thanks to R. H. AbstractSix species of Bucephalidae are reported: Subfamily Bucephalinae: Bucephalus sphyraenae Yamaguti, 1952 from Sphyraena obtusata and S. chrysotaenia (Sphyraenidae) (new host records); Bucephalus margaritae Ozaki and Ishibashi, 1934 from Atropus atropos, Scomberoides commersonianus, Carangoides malabaricus (Carangidae), Gerres filamentosus (Gerreidae) (new host record) and Sphyraena jello (new host record); Rhipidocotyle pseudorhombi n. sp. from Pseudorhombus arsius is characterized by and differs from its congeners by several characteristics including an elongate body, a rhynchus with 7 thin papillae, a long tuular caecum extending posteriorly to the ovarian level, goads in the posterior half of the body, and contiguous testes not separated by uterine coils. More specifically it differs from R. heptathelata and R. septapapillata by having a long cirrus sac relative to body length, tandem and more anterior testes. Subfamily Prosorhynchinae: Prosorhynchus pacificus Manter, 1940 from Epinephelus tauvina (Serranidae) and Gnathonodon speciosus (Carangidae) (new host record); P. epinepheli Yamaguti, 1939 from Epinephelus areolatus; P. manteri Srivastava, 1938 from Trichiurus lepturus (Trichiuridae). All species, except Prosorhynchus epinepheli represent new records from the Arabian Gulf.

Bothriocephalus acheilognathi was collected from 13 of 38 carp (Cyprinus carpio), 2 of 4 mosquito fish (Gambusia holbrooki), and 2 of 12 western carp gudgeon (Hypseleotris klunzingeri ) in waterways of the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales. This is the first record of this parasite in Australia, and its presence in H. klunzingeri is a new host record. B. acheilognathi presumably arrived in Australia with its introduced fish hosts and has since crossed into native fishes. This cestode may infect other native fish species, a potential that is significant given the high pathogenicity associated with infection in other known hosts.

The poorly known Clymene dolphin (Stenella clymene) is a small oceanic cetacean distributed in tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean. In this study, we report, for the first time, a vagrant individual of Clymene dolphin in Argentina (Rada Tilly) that represents the current southern-most record for this cetacean species. We provide a molecular identification of the dolphin, based on partial sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene, generated from DNA extracted from its metazoan parasites. Three prey species, namely Argentine hake, Patagonian squid and lobster krill were identified from hard pieces collected in the stomach. Seven metazoan parasite taxa (three in adult stage, one immature stage and three in larval stage) were identified using morphological and molecular data, i.e., the digenean Pholeter gastrophilus (new host record), the cestodes Tetrabothrius (Tetrabothrius) forsteri, Clistobothrium grimaldii unidentified phyllobothriid plerocercoids, the nematodes Anisakis pegreffii (new host record), Halocercus delphini and the acanthocephalan Corynosoma australe (new host record). Our study provides the first molecular exploration of the metazoan parasite diversity in delphinids from the southwestern Atlantic, and contributes significantly to understand the poorly known parasite fauna of the Clymene dolphin.

Knowledge of parasites in turtles is scarce, particularly with regard to freshwater turtles of South America. Here, we describe the association of Spiroxys contortus (Rudolphi, 1819)in Phrynops hilarii (Duméril & Bibron, 1835) and S. contortus and Hedruris orestiae (Moniez, 1889) in Hydromedusa tectifera (Cope, 1870). The presence of S. contortus in P. hilarii represents a new host record and also the southernmost geographic record for this species. More interestingly, the presence of H. orestiae in H. tectifera represents the first record of this helminth species from a reptilian host.
