The direct laser drilling could bring the recast layer and micro cracks, here introduced a new method named low-pressure water jet assisted laser drilling. It mainly studied some factors influence on the surface and inwall morphologies of Al2O3 ceramic when using low-pressure water jet, such as auxiliary gas pressure、pulse energy、repeated frequency.By optimizing the parameters, it can get the better surface and inwall morphologies. The results show that, taking advantage of the erosion of water jet, the composite drilling can obviously lessen molten slags, in order to reduce the recast layer and micro cracks, the processing quality can be improved much.

Increasing experience with major hepatic resections has stimulated the development of improved resectional techniques and tools. A new high velocity water jet dissector is reported which offers significant advances over previously developed ultrasonic and low pressure water jet machines. It has been successfully used in 8 major hepatic resections with minimal blood loss, excellent visibility and without complications. The dissector is also of value in the exposure of intrahepatic bile ducts for biliaryenteric anastomosis.

Recast layer, micro cracks and thermal deformation limited the improvement of the surface quality of laser processing in precision machining of hard and brittle material. This paper presents a new method which combines low-pressure water jet with laser processing. A comprehensive study on the influence of laser processing parameters on surface quality of an Al2O3 ceramic sheet is presented. The experiment was conducted using ND: YAG laser machine and low-pressure water jet was used as assist. The surface quality of normal laser processing and low-pressure water jet assisted laser processing was comparative analyzed using a 3-D microscopy. Experiment proves that the composite processing of low-pressure water jet assisted laser processing can obtain good surface quality, slight moltenslag and thermal deformation, compared with the normal laser processing.

A study on low pressure water jet assisted laser processing is presented. This new method is researched by drilling on Al2O3ceramics material. A comprehensive research on the influence of laser processing parameters on surface quality with this method is conducted. The microcosmic appearances of the machining surfaces obtained from normal laser processing and composite processing were comparatively analyzed. At the same time, through measuring the holes in the 3-D morphology, the influences of water jet velocity and laser processing parameters on the surface quality are presented. The results show that, the surface quality is significantly improved with this new method which combines low pressure jet into laser processing. The molten slag can be significantly reduced and the stability of processing quality can be improved much.
