This chapter presents the motivation, background, and implementation of “Living Mandala: The Cosmic of Being 1,” an interactive graphics installation that combines real-time data, multi-cultural mandalas, scientific imagery, and cosmological symbols. Built with an open source programming language and environment, this living contemporary symbol is an exploration into uncharted territories of the human soul sculpted by our present time. Its interactive revolving graphical system visualizes our perceptions of life (microcosm) and the universe (macrocosm); our connections to ancient mythology, cosmology, and cultural heritage; and the relationships among humankind, science, technology, and nature in a globalized society. Merging rich historical, cultural, scientific imagery and symbols with real-time data and relaxing sound, this living organism alters every moment responding to the movement, color, light, sound, and temperature of its surroundings.

Vista Angkasa Apartment is one of the oldest apartments in the Bangsar South area, with a total of 8 blocks and consisting of more than 1000 units of houses. Currently, all the transaction related to the maintenance of each apartment is recorded manually. It is very difficult to manage all the data manually and if some information is required urgently then to obtain it also is very difficult. It will not only take a lot of time, but it also increases the chances of errors. Therefore, to solve the issues faced, an apartment management system that allows management staff to view the apartment’s data and tenant’s data as well as maintenance requests, notices and complaints has been developed. It also increases the efficiency and the effectiveness of Vista Angkasa Apartment Management by eliminating the current manual system. Compilation of data can be done easily with just a click of mouse. The methodology that has been applied to develop the system will be Agile with the PHP programming language. The developed system has successfully tested with the real time data at the Vista Angkasa Apartment. Based on the obtained results, the Vista Angkasa Apartment Management System solved the current issues with the management office and tenants.

Hadoop merupakan sebuah framework software yang bersifat open source dan berbasis java. Hadoop terdiri atas dua komponen utama, yaitu MapReduce dan Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS). MapReduce terdiri atas Map dan Reduce yang digunakan untuk pemrosesan data, sementara HDFS adalah tempat atau direktori dimana data hadoop dapat disimpan. Dalam menjalankan job yang tidak jarang terdapat keragaman karakteristik eksekusinya, diperlukan job scheduler yang tepat.  Terdapat banyak job scheduler yang dapat di pilih supaya sesuai dengan karakteristik job. Fair Scheduler menggunakan salah satu scheduler dimana prisnsipnya memastikan suatu jobs akan mendapatkan resource yang sama dengan jobs yang lain, dengan tujuan meningkatkan performa dari segi Average Completion Time. Hadoop Fair Sojourn Protocol Scheduler adalah sebuah algoritma scheduling dalam Hadoop yang dapat melakukan scheduling berdasarkan ukuran jobs yang diberikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat perbandingan performa kedua scheduler tersebut untuk karakteristik data twitter. Hasil pengujian menunjukan Hadoop Fair Sojourn Protocol Scheduler memiliki performansi lebih baik dibandingkan Fair Scheduler baik dari penanganan average completion time sebesar 9,31% dan job throughput sebesar 23,46%. Kemudian untuk Fair Scheduler unggul dalam parameter task fail rate sebesar 23,98%.
