As large-scale wind farms are connected to the grid, a single type compensator cannot meet the demand. STATCOM has ability of rapid reaction and harmonics suppression, SVC can compensate large capacity reactive power. In this study, a compensator, which is able to coordinate Static Var System (SVS) with STATCOM is proposed. Large-scale wind power integration is simulated respectively with the compensator of STATCOM alone and coordinated compensator of SVS and STATCOM by DIgSILENT/Powerfactory15.0. Simulations results clearly verify that the compensator of SVS and STATCOM improves transient stability and performance of the photovoltaic systems.

In recent years, wind power penetration into the grid has increased rapidly with abundant wind resources in Jiuquan, according to the policy of the Chinese government to “establish a ‘Hexi Wind Power Corridor’ and rebuild another Western ‘Terrestrial Three Gorges Dam’”. By the end of 2010, the total installed capacity of wind power in Jiuquan has reached 5160 MW. The wind farms are connected to 110 kV transmission network or above in Jiuquan, the studies of their impacts on the grid, in particular, the grid operation are becoming serious and urgent. Jiuquan is far away from the load center with a weak grid configuration, therefore issues such as transmission line overloading, local grid voltage fluctuation, and transient stability limitation are looming with large scale wind power integration. The power system dispatch and operation are influenced by the intermittent nature of the wind power, which should be regulated by the system reserves. This paper discusses the recent integration of wind power into the grid with a focus on the impact on the Gansu power grid operation. The paper also presents the measures to deal with these issues.

Wind energy is very abundant in Hexi Corridor, and inspired by government policy impetus to build “the Three Gorges on land”, total installed capacity in Hexi grid has increased sharply, and Jiuquan wind power base will become the biggest connecting wind farms in the world. However, Hexi grid has a weak grid configuration, therefore, issues such as insufficient reactive power, transient stability change, and local grid voltage level decreasing could emerge with large scale wind power integration. It’s very necessary to input SVC to implement dynamic reactive power compensation, which is helpful for improving voltage stability. This paper introduces the basic principle of SVC and SVC’s working state in three situation. Then models and simulates the effect of SVC on Gansu Hexi grid static load margin by BPA. At last, proves SVC can improve static load margin.

Large scale wind power integration has influenced the safety of power system. Taking wind power integration in Jilin as example, the paper describes the influencing factors of large scale wind power integration on reactive power of the grid in detail firstly, then analyze the reactive voltage in four typical ways, and discuss the impact of the wind power fluctuations on the grid reactive voltage.

Some faults will result wind turbine generators off-grid due to low grid voltage , furthermore, large-scale wind farms tripping can result in severe system oscillation and aggravate system transient instability . In view of this, static compensator (STATCOM) is installed in the grid containing large-scale wind farm. A voltage feedforward control strategy is proposed to adjust the reactive power of STATCOM compensation and ensure that the grid voltage is quickly restored to a safe range. The mathematical model of the doubly-fed induction wind generator (DFIG) is proposed. The control strategy of DFIG uses PI control for rotor angular velocity and active power. 4-machine system simulation results show that the STATCOM reactive power compensation significantly improve output active power of large-scale wind farm satisfying transient stability, reduce the probability of the tripping, and improve the utilization efficiency of wind farms.

In view of a serious threat for the transient stability of the power system being caused by the large-scale wind farms integration, and combining with advantages of STATCOM which can quickly restore the fault voltage and fastly, flexibly and smoothly compensate the reactive power, a method is proposed using STATCOM controller of to improve transient stability of the power system integrated by large-scale wind farms. The control strategy of the STATCOM controller uses adaptive double loop control. The role of the device to improvement transient stability of the power system is studied under the condition of serious fault. by simulation comparison with the condition without STATCOM controller installed at the same place. The simulation results show that the STATCOM controller can clearly improve transient stability of the power system integrated by large-scale wind farms.

In this paper, the flow calculation problem of wind power connected to the grid was researched and the corresponding models were put forward.According to the relationship between the node voltage and reactive power of wind farms, modified the jacobian matrix.Implement and trend of the expression for calculating and according to the relationship between the node voltage and reactive power of wind farms, to modify the traditional methods of jacobian matrix and axle and consistency.Finally through the IEEE - 14 standard system, to verify this model and algorithm in this paper, satisfactory effect was obtained ,also laid the foundation for the further research.

Large scale integration of renewable is still very challenging due to their intermittency and fluctuations. Aimed at this problem, this paper establishes an evolutionary game model to analysis the dynamic evolution of interests cooperation between the wind farms corporations and the power grid corporations. Then, this paper discusses the relation between multiple variables, such as price of the conventional energy power rate of the subsidy marginal cost of the initial invention and coefficient of distribution of excessive profit, and also analysis how these variables affect the Evolutionary results of this system, based on different replicator dynamics and evolutionary stable strategies. Being at the end, this paper has identified a fair and reasonable distribution coefficient of excessive profit. After equilibrium analysis, a win-win operating mechanism was established to guide the various stockholders to tend to co-operation correctly. Finally, some countermeasures and suggestions were proposed for wind power integration.

According to the characteristics of the wind farm measuration and the impact of bad data on the state estimation, this paper introduces the reference value of measurement type and the bad data reference factor into the weight function, and then presents the calculation method of state estimation method for solving residual contamination problem caused by large-scale wind power integration. In order to improve the software computing speed and the data section real-time performance of robust state estimation, using parallel algorithms to do Givens transformation. Finally, the simulation tests of a regional power grid to prove that the proposed method can effectively identify telemetry bad data of wind farms eliminate residual pollution caused by it, which improve the speed and accuracy of the State Estimation.
