This paper designs a model of muti-echelon closed-loop supply chain network (CLSC network). CLSC network includes raw material suppliers, manufacturers, distribution centers, collection centers and customer zones. The purpose of this paper is to minimize the overall costs of CLSC network. The overall costs include transportation cost, fixed cost, variable cost, penalty cost. This model is a mixed integer linear programming model. In general, it is very difficult to solve the model. Cplex12.6 is used in order to deal with this model. The results show that this model can be solved by Cplex12.6 well.

Designing the supply chain network is one of the significant areas in e-commerce business management. This concept plays a crucial role in e-commerce systems. For example, location-inventory-pricing-routing of an e-commerce supply chain is considered a crucial issue in this field. This field established many severe challenges in the modern world, like maintaining the supply chain for returned items, preserving customers' trust and satisfaction, and developing an applicable supply chain with cost considerations. The research proposes a multi-objective mixed integer nonlinear programming model to design a closed-loop supply chain network based on the e-commerce context. The proposed model incorporates two objectives that optimize the business's total profits and the customers' satisfaction. Then, numerous numerical examples are generated and solved using the epsilon constraint method in GAMS optimization software. The validation of the given model has been tested for the large problems via a hybrid two-level non-dominated sort genetic algorithm. Finally, some sensitivity analysis has been performed to provide some managerial insights.

Increasing concerns for sustainable development have motivated the study of closed-loop supply chain network design from a multidimensional perspective. To cope with such issues, this paper presents a general closed-loop supply chain network comprising various recovery options and further formulates a multi-objective mixed-integer linear programming model considering enterprise profit and service level simultaneously. Within this model, market segmentation is also considered to meet real-world operating conditions. Moreover, an ε -constraint method and two interactive fuzzy approaches are applied to find a global optimum for this model together with the decisions on the numbers, locations, and capacities of the facilities, as well as the material flow through the network. Ultimately, numerical experiments are conducted to demonstrate the viability and effectiveness of both the proposed model and solution approaches.

Hazardous materials (hazmat) storage and transportation pose threats to people’s safety and the environment, which creates a need for governments and local authorities to regulate such shipments. This paper proposes a novel mathematical model for what is termed the hazmat closed-loop supply chain network design problem. The model, which can be viewed as a way to combine several directions previously considered in the literature, includes two echelons in the forward direction (production and distribution centers), three echelons in the backward direction (collection, recovery, and disposal centers), and emergency response team positioning. The two objectives of minimizing the strategic, tactical, and operational costs as well as the risk exposure on road networks are considered in this model. Since the forward flow of hazmat is directly related to the reverse flow, and since hazmat accidents can occur at all stages of the lifecycle (storage, shipment, loading, and unloading, etc.), it is argued that such a unified framework is essential. A robust framework is also presented to hedge the optimization model in case of demand and return uncertainty. The performance of both models is evaluated based on a standard dataset from Albany, NY. Considering the trade-offs between cost and risk, the results demonstrate the design of efficient hazmat closed-loop supply chain networks where the risk exposure can be reduced significantly by employing the proposed models.

Given the importance of operating and managing forward and reverse supply chains in an integrated manner, this article considers an integrated four-stage supply chain network with forward and reverse product flows. We consider a closed loop supply chain (CLSC) network with primarily commercial returns, which could be potentially recovered by light repair operations or by refurbishing. The annual estimate of commercial returns in the United States is in excess of $100 billion. This paper discusses the optimal design of a CLSC network.A mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model is developed to determine the optimal locations of the facilities and the distribution of flows between facilities in the CLSC to maximize the total profit. The model is illustrated using a realistic example applicable to the electronics industries. Even though recycling and refurbishing add cost, the overall supply chain profit increases due to a reduction in the raw material cost. Sensitivity analysis is carried out to determine the effect of return percentage and varying demands of customers who are willing to buy refurbished products. The analysis show that the total supply chain profit increases with the increase in refurbishing activity. Finally, changes in the network design with respect to the uncertainty in these return parameters are also studied. The results show that the changes in return parameters lead to changes in optimal network design implying the need to explicitly consider the uncertainty in these return parameters.

The green supply chain management has drawn researchers’ attention in recent years, but most of the proposed models for green topics on the subject are case based, and for this reason, they lack generality. In this work, the design of a supply chain network is studied. In this chapter, we try to overcome this limitation and a generalized model is proposed, in which a logistics chain network problem is formulated into a 0-1 mixed integer linear programming model and the decisions for the function of manufactures, distribution centers, and dismantlers will be suggested with minimum cost. A numerical example is provided for illustration.
