Based on the finite element analysis software ABAQUS, the nonlinear analysis of a reinforced concrete beam was carried out In this simple beam analysis, the concrete damage plasticity model in ABAQUS has been introduced thoroughly. Finally, the results of the experimentation and the ABAQUS analysis were compared in a diagram, accordingly reasons of the result difference between the two methods were discussed about, which can be a useful reference for the further study of the finite element analysis on ABAQUS.

Abstract: Understanding the response of concrete structural components such as beams, columns, walls during loading is indispensable for the development of safeand efficient structures. The present report deals with the non-linear static analysis of a Reinforced Concrete (RC) beam, having dimensions 4000mmX400mmX 250mm, with 4 nos. of 16mm diameter bar as main reinforcements, 8mm diameter at 200mm c/c as shear reinforcement, with two faces of the beam as fixed modeled and analyzed when subjected to two point loads at one-third span from each fixed support using the Finite Element Analysis software Ansys. The behavior of the analyzed beam has been observed in terms of flexural behavior, load-deflection responses, and crack pattern for various loading conditions until failure load. Keywords: Finite element analysis, ANSYS, flexural behavior, Reinforced Concrete (RC) beams, material non- linearity, shear reinforcement.

According to uncertainty of the design parameters for large span truss of installing wave-maker, in order to avoid the waste of materials, the truss is analyzed based on the finite element analysis software ANSYS to find out its weaknesses and various parts of the deformation. On the premise of ensuring the intensity and stiffness, the weight of the truss is reduced by adjusting its sizes and selecting different profiles, so as to achieve the optimization of the truss of installing wave-maker.

Software simulation enables design engineers to have a better picture of possible structural failure behaviour and determine the accuracy of a design before the actual structural component is fabricated. Finite element analysis is used to simulate the behaviour of the reinforced concrete beam under the flexural test. During the flexural test, results are recorded for both simulation and experimental tests. By comparing the results, beam displacement, crack patterns, and failure modes can be studied with better accuracy. The accuracy percentage for yield load and ultimate load between the two tests results were 94.12 % and 95.79 %, respectively, whereas the accuracy percentage for elastic gradient before the yielding stage was 81.08 %. The behaviour between simulation and laboratory models described is based on crack pattern and failure mode. The progression of von Mises (VM) stresses highlighted the critical areas of the reinforced concrete beam and correlation between the experimental specimen, in terms of flexural cracks, shear cracks, yielding of tension reinforcement, and the crushing of concrete due to compressive stress. This paper concludes that simulation can achieve a significant accuracy in terms of loads and failure behaviour compared to the experimental model.

In the traditional designs of milling cutter, we cannot get the required accuracy of machining as there may be local deformation on the edges, even more the cutter can break down. Aiming at this situation, a finite-element model of straight pin milling cutter with helical tooth are built using Marc, a nonlinear finite-element analysis software, the different cutting forces of the milling cutter during the cutting process are analyzed and the cutting forces of the milling cutter at different parameters are studied. We get the stress, the strain and the temperature distribution of the milling cutter in different situation. Our work offer a theoretical basis of improving stress of the cutter, designing the structure of cutters reasonably and analyzing the cutter failure as well as a new method of analysis and calculation of the cutter life and strength.
