Image representation is an important topic in computer vision and pattern recognition. It plays a fundamental role in a range of applications toward understanding visual contents. Moment-based image representation has been reported to be effective in satisfying the core conditions of semantic description due to its beneficial mathematical properties, especially geometric invariance and independence. This article presents a comprehensive survey of the orthogonal moments for image representation, covering recent advances in fast/accurate calculation, robustness/invariance optimization, definition extension, and application. We also create a software package for a variety of widely used orthogonal moments and evaluate such methods in a same base. The presented theory analysis, software implementation, and evaluation results can support the community, particularly in developing novel techniques and promoting real-world applications.

Abstract Introduction Radio telemetry, one of the most widely used techniques for tracking wildlife and fisheries populations, has a false-positive problem. Bias from false-positive detections can affect many important derived metrics, such as home range estimation, site occupation, survival, and migration timing. False-positive removal processes have relied upon simple filters and personal opinion. To overcome these shortcomings, we have developed BIOTAS (BIOTelemetry Analysis Software) to assist with false-positive identification, removal, and data management for large-scale radio telemetry projects. Methods BIOTAS uses a naïve Bayes classifier to identify and remove false-positive detections from radio telemetry data. The semi-supervised classifier uses spurious detections from unknown tags and study tags as training data. We tested BIOTAS on four scenarios: wide-band receiver with a single Yagi antenna, wide-band receiver that switched between two Yagi antennas, wide-band receiver with a single dipole antenna, and single-band receiver that switched between five frequencies. BIOTAS has a built in a k-fold cross-validation and assesses model quality with sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value, false-positive rate, and precision-recall area under the curve. BIOTAS also assesses concordance with a traditional consecutive detection filter using Cohen’s $$\kappa$$ κ . Results Overall BIOTAS performed equally well in all scenarios and was able to discriminate between known false-positive detections and valid study tag detections with low false-positive rates (< 0.001) as determined through cross-validation, even as receivers switched between antennas and frequencies. BIOTAS classified between 94 and 99% of study tag detections as valid. Conclusion As part of a robust data management plan, BIOTAS is able to discriminate between detections from study tags and known false positives. BIOTAS works with multiple manufacturers and accounts for receivers that switch between antennas and frequencies. BIOTAS provides the framework for transparent, objective, and repeatable telemetry projects for wildlife conservation surveys, and increases the efficiency of data processing.

The reaming process of the 6061 aluminum alloy plate after cold expansion with split sleeve was simulated by finite element (FE) method based on Abaqus/CAE, the relationship between the reaming depths and the distribution of residual stress fields is obtained by analysis. The fatigue lives of the plate under different reaming depths were calculated by using the fatigue analysis software FE-SAFE, and verified by fatigue tests. The results show that reaming after expansion will increase the residual compressive stress at the hole edge on the entrance surface. In addition, the fatigue life of the specimens increases with the increase of the reaming depth, and the best fatigue gain of the specimen is obtained when the reaming depth of 0.5 mm.

This study aims to know and clarify the influence of halal products and brand image on purchasing decisions with purchase intentions as mediating variables. Respondent – 98 employees (purposive sampling). Data collection is conducted through interviews and questionnaires. The data in the analysis uses path analysis (software SmartPls 3.0). The results of the study showed that: (1) Halal Products have a significant positive effect on Purchase Intentions. (2) Brand Image has a significant positive effect on Purchase Intention. (3) Purchase Intention as a mediator in this study has a significant effect on the Purchase Decision. (4) Halal products have a significant positive effect on Purchasing Decisions. (5) Brand Image has a significant positive effect on Purchasing Decisions. (6) Purchase Intention mediates Halal Products to Purchase Decisions and (7) Purchase Intention do not mediate Brand Image against Purchasing Decisions.

[Purposes] This study aims to investigate the publication status alternation of papers online first and reveal how the Regulations for Alteration of Publication Status and Content Correction of Online Publications on CNKI (Regulations for short) is implemented. [Methods] Firstly, we retrieved the withdrawal declarations of papers online first marked with "withdrawal" on CNKI from 2017 to 2019. Secondly, we downloaded them and saved the documents after coding. Then, the file directories were imported into Endnote X9 (a kind of reference management software) for statistical analysis and the texts of declarations were input into NVivo 12 Plus (a type of qualitative data analysis software) for cause classification. Finally, we analyzed the subject distribution, source journals, and causes of the "withdrawal". [Findings] From 2017 to 2019, the publication statuses of 389 articles online first have been altered, with 310 withdrawn, 74 retracted, and 5 corrected. Among them, only 278 (71.47%) state specific causes in the withdrawal statements and the causes are academic misconduct (32), authorship (25), publishing errors (82), quality problems (118), and others (21). [Conclusions] The online-first articles have a high proportion (389/182654, 0.21%) of publication status alternation and a small percentage of them (6/389, 1.54%) have strictly complied with the requirements of the Regulations, as manifested by the missing or vague causes for the publication status alternation in the withdrawal statements and even the deliberately covered-up academic misconducts. Academic journal publishers and digital publishing platforms should enhance the process management and content review of papers published online first and further improve the transparency of the causes of publication status alternation, visibility of withdrawal declarations, and traceability of the "withdrawal" process.

Native mass spectrometry (nMS) has emerged as an important tool in studying the structure and function of macromolecules and their complexes in the gas phase. In this review, we cover recent advances in nMS and related techniques including sample preparation, instrumentation, activation methods, and data analysis software. These advances have enabled nMS-based techniques to address a variety of challenging questions in structural biology. The second half of this review highlights recent applications of these technologies and surveys the classes of complexes that can be studied with nMS. Complementarity of nMS to existing structural biology techniques and current challenges in nMS are also addressed. New professional profiles have recently emerged in the translation sector. Within these, transcreation is worth mentioning. Nevertheless, transcreation training is not yet extended within higher education in translation and interpreting. The main objective of this chapter is to present a task-based learning experience introduced in a French-Spanish translation course at the University of Granada (Spain), aimed at promoting transcreation and transcreation skills. This is divided into (1) to describe the task-based proposal, the materials and methods used, and its learning objectives and (2) to identify the strategies the students put into play. Students' answers were processed with the qualitative analysis software NVivo. Results show that students activated creative strategies to adapt linguistically and culturally the materials proposed and displayed cross-curricular competences such as creativity or decision-making. Including transcreation in translation and interpreting training seems a promising line of research. Nevertheless, further progress is needed in the evaluation of transcreation.

This paper presents the results of analytical studies on the connection between piles and pile caps or footings. Two nonlinear finite element analysis software packages were used to investigate the behavior of the connection itself and the impact of connection assumptions on the overall behavior of different sensitive structures such as simple spans with uneven span lengths, segmental box girders with fixed pier tables, and straddle bents with temperature loading. Results show that the behavior of the connection is affected by variables such as pile size, pile embedment length, pile cap concrete strength, interface reinforcement, and distance between the edge of the pile and the edge of the pile cap. The study also demonstrated that significant moment can develop even with shallow pile embedment lengths. The assumed level of fixity between the pile and pile cap was found to significantly influence the behavior of some of the bridges investigated in this study.
