Abstract. Documentation is a key step for cognition of cultural heritage, and also a requisite for conservation and adaptive reuse actions. Petroleum reservoir of Mashhad (constructed in 1925) was documented by means of Drone images. The photogrammetric documentation was aimed at provision of 3D models and as a dataset for the creation of BIM models. These data-enriched models could be used on Digital Twin platforms for monitoring and operational purposes, a concept that is becoming increasingly relevant in the field of cultural heritage conservation. The discussion of this process demonstrates that the dense matching of drone images may generate centimeter-level precision and can provide a proper basis for BIM and Digital Twin platforms. The capability of this system will help the community in sustainable development in order to preserve the monuments and determine the appropriate urban use in heritage buildings.

There is a need for easier vertical circulation facilities, especially given the need for people with disabilities and parents in historic buildings, especially in buildings that still function as public buildings to date. This is because in general these buildings use stairs as a means of vertical circulation while the activities inside have increased so that more efficient vertical circulation is needed such as elevators. The problem is how to determine the placement of vertical circulation facilities in historical buildings, which sometimes do not accommodate the placement of new vertical circulation facilities and placement should be in locations that are easily accessible and seen by users but at the same time also pay attention to the rules of buildingconservation rules. This study aims to show the use of the Space Syntaxmethod can be used in conjunction with the conservation study of historic buildings to determine the placement of vertical circulation facilities in buildings as a space study tool that will determine the location of placement in terms of accesibility and connectedness of space which will then be used to determine placement new elements in the building while paying attention to the principles of cultural heritage conservation. The study used quantitative methods of ekseprimental simulation with the use of Depthmap's computer program as a tool for analysis of simulation of the Space Syntaxmethod, supported by heritage provisions as a guide to limits of changes allowed in cultural heritage buildings. The results showed that the use of Space Syntaxcan be used in conjunction with the analysis of building conservation to determine elevator placement in locations that pay attention to the study of ease of achievement and observation of usersbut still pay attention to the influence of the placement on historical and architectural elements of the building shown in the case study of the UNPAR building Jl.merdeka no.30 Bandung.

This paper addresses the impacts of globalization on cultural heritage conservation in sub-Saharan Africa. The homogenization and commodification of Indigenous cultures as a result of globalization and it’s impacts on the devaluation of heritage sites and cultural properties is discussed within a Nigerian context. Additionally, the ongoing global demand for African art objects continues to fuel the looting and destruction of archaeological and historical sites, negatively impacting the well-being of local communities and their relationships to their cultural heritage. Global organizations and institutions such as UNESCO, the World Bank, and other institutions have been important stakeholders in the protection of cultural heritage worldwide. This paper assesses the efficacy of the policies and interventions implemented by these organizations and institutions within Africa and makes suggestions on how to advance the protection of African cultural heritage within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Furthermore, cultural heritage conservation is explored as a core element of community well-being and a tool with which African nations may achieve sustainable economic development.

The paper presents partial results of research into the application of nanofibers in the stabilization, conservation, and strengthening of historic plasters. Nanotechnologies applied in all basic technical disciplines currently belong to the most popular fields of research. The restoration of historic and cultural heritage buildings must not in any way damage the preserved original coatings. The execution method and the choice of the suitability of used materials must respect the preserved condition based on the original plaster composition. The research addresses the above issues by applying nanofibers to textile carrier fabrics. The suitability of selected electrospun polymers and acrylates for the purposes of strengthening surface layers, and the application methods of nanotextiles on plasters, were investigated. The objective of this study is to verify whether the newly-designed methodology for the stabilization, conservation, and strengthening of historic plasters meets structural and technical demands, as well as the strict criteria set by cultural heritage conservation.

Cultural heritage digitization and 3D modelling processes are mainly based on laser scanning and digital photogrammetry techniques to produce complete, detailed and photorealistic three-dimensional surveys: geometric as well as chromatic aspects, in turn testimony of materials, work techniques, state of preservation, etc., are documented using digitization processes.<br><br> The paper explores the topic of 3D documentation for conservation purposes; it analyses how geomatics contributes in different steps of a restoration process and it presents an overview of different uses of 3D models for the conservation and enhancement of the cultural heritage. The paper reports on the project to digitize the earthenware frieze of the Ospedale del Ceppo in Pistoia (Italy) for 3D documentation, restoration work support, and digital and physical reconstruction and integration purposes. The intent to design an exhibition area suggests new ways to take advantage of 3D data originally acquired for documentation and scientific purposes.
