Multiple criteria decision making is one of the many areas where neutrosophic sets have been successfully applied to solve various problems so far. Compared to a fuzzy set, and similar sets, neutrosophic sets use more membership functions which makes them suitable for using complex evaluation criteria in multiple criteria decision making. On the other hand, the application of three membership functions makes evaluation somewhat more complex compared to evaluation using fuzzy sets. The reliability of the data used to solve a problem can have an impact on the selection of the appropriate solution/alternative. Therefore, this paper discusses an approach that can be used to assess the reliability of information collected by surveying respondents. The usability of the proposed approach is demonstrated in the numerical illustration of the supplier selection.

Neutrosophic sets have been recognized as an effective approach in solving complex decision-making (DM) problems, mainly when such problems are related to uncertainties, as published in numerous articles thus far. The use of the three membership functions that can be used to express accuracy, inaccuracy, and indeterminacy during the evaluation of alternatives in multiple-criteria DM can be said to be a significant advantage of these sets. By utilizing these membership functions, neutrosophic sets provide an efficient and flexible approach to the evaluation of alternatives, even if DM problems are related to uncertainty and predictions. On the other hand, the TOPSIS method is a prominent multiple-criteria decision-making method used so far to solve numerous decision-making problems, and many extensions of the TOPSIS method are proposed to enable the use of different types of fuzzy as well as neutrosophic sets. Therefore, a novel extension of the TOPSIS method adapted for the use of single-valued neutrosophic sets was considered in this paper.

Linguistic terms are quite suitable to make evaluations in multiple criteria decision making problems since humans prefer them rather than sharp evaluations. When linguistic evaluations are used in the decision matrix instead of exact numerical values, fuzzy set theory can capture the vagueness in the linguistic evaluations. Ordinary fuzzy sets have been extended to many new types of fuzzy sets such as intuitionistic fuzzy sets, neutrosophic sets, spherical fuzzy sets and picture fuzzy sets. Spherical fuzzy sets are an extension of picture fuzzy sets whose squared sum of their parameters is at most equal to one. This paper develops a novel spherical fuzzy CRiteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation (CRITIC) method and applies it for prioritizing supplier selection criteria. Supplier selection is one of the most critical aspects of any organization since any mistake in this process may cause poor supplier performance and inefficiencies in the business processes. Supplier selection is a multi-criteria decision making problem involving several conflicting criteria and alternatives. A numerical illustration of the proposed method is also given for this problem.

The default risk is a reality as well for the companies as for the economy of a country. This paper has highlighted the fact that in spite of the many incentives to promote Tunisian SMEs, creation of these companies remains below expectations. Thus, a study assessing the risk of failure is imperative. A multicriteria methodology of decision-making in a sample of 41 small and medium-sized enterprises used financing by the Tunisian Solidarity Bank (BTS) as one of the financial support structures relative to investment credits. The results showed that the application of a policy of caution (pessimistic procedure) in the granting of loans by the BTS is the main obstacle to the creation, development and sustainability of the Tunisian SMEs.

China is pushing universities to implement reforms in order to achieve the sustainable development goals, but with the development level of teachers becoming the key restricting factor. In this sense, teacher evaluation and improvement act as positive factors for China to achieve the 2030 sustainable development goals. Previous studies on teacher evaluation have usually assumed that the relationship between the evaluation criteria is independent, with the weights of each standard derived from this assumption. However, this assumption is often not in line with the actual situation. Decisions based on these studies are likely to waste resources and may negatively impact the efficiency and effectiveness of teachers’ sustainable development. This study developed an integrated model for the evaluation and improvement of teachers based on the official teacher evaluation criteria of China’s International Scholarly Exchange Curriculum (ISEC) programme and a multiple criteria decision-making methodology. First, a decision-making trial and a laboratory-based analytical network process were used to establish an influential network-relation diagram (INRD) and influential weights under ISEC standards. Next, an important performance analysis was used to integrate the weight and performance of each standard to produce a worst-performance criterion set for each university teacher. Finally, the worst performance set used an INRD to derive an improvement strategy with a cause–effect relationship for each teacher. This study chose a Chinese university that has implemented teaching reform for our case study. The results show that our developed model can assist decision-makers to improve their current evaluations of teachers and to provide a cause–effect improvement strategy for education reform committees and higher education institutions.

The neutrosophic set and linguistic term set are widely applied in recent years. Motivated by the advantages of them, we combine the multivalued neutrosophic set and linguistic set and define the concept of the multivalued neutrosophic linguistic set (MVNLS). Furthermore, Hamacher operation is an extension of the algebraic and Einstein operation. Additionally, the normalized weighted Bonferroni mean (NWBM) operator can consider the weight of each argument and capture the interrelationship of different arguments. Therefore, the combination of NWBM operator and Hamacher operation is more valuable and agile. Firstly, MVNLS and multivalued neutrosophic linguistic number (MVNLN) are defined, then some new operational rules of MVNLNs on account of Hamacher operations are developed, and the comparison functions for MVNLNs are given. Secondly, multivalued neutrosophic linguistic normalized weighted Bonferroni mean Hamacher operator (MVNLNWBMH) is proposed, and a number of expected characteristics of new operator are investigated. Meanwhile, some special cases of different parametersp,q, andεare analyzed. Thirdly, the approach utilizing the MVNLNWBMH operator is introduced to manage multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) issue in multivalued neutrosophic linguistic environment. Ultimately, a practical example is presented and a comparative analysis is carried out, which validate the effectiveness and generalization of the novel approach.
